El Marv, I agree 100% I'm a newer driver and have been looking at a company to jump back on the road with. Every company and I mean every company has a thread like this. I used to drive for swift. Everyone hated swift, I liked them, but I was nice to my dispatcher, did "favor" loads for him, and then he would hook me up with a nice 1600 miler or something next. Most drivers forget how bad a local job is. I just left mine, Everyday you have to put up with more bs and such then a driving job. I miss the solitude of that truck.

I think I will jump on with JB hunt. I plan to drive the way I am supposed to and deliver the loads they give me. Work up some credibility with my dispatcher and life will be ok.

As far as the dac report, don't give them a reason to put something on there. They do have to justify bs remarks. (I have dealt with fraud on my report and easily won) So just do your job right and follow there rules. If you don't like it, pull the truck into the yard, clean it out, and have someone sign for it. (proof you turned it in and didnt abandon)

This is my opinion, yall voiced yours

Hey dude, stop driving wreckless and start driving friendly! What do you expect? And award for being a clown on the road? Please, you lie so much about jb. its so funny to hear people cry about jb's safety policy when the fact of the matter is that these rules are applied to the clowns in the drivers seat who think every day is just another day that sux cause they didnt see their girlfriend...lol ...quit crying about sh##.

I've never worked for JB, but I considered working for them awhile ago when I switched from OTR to local. They have several DCS accts in my area, as well as intermodal.

The thing that really concerned me about them is that they are ALWAYS hiring. If they're as good as some of you are saying, you'd think they'd be able to find a good group of drivers and hang onto them.

Look at the good LTL companies. They rarely hire, and when they do, their employees stick with it, even when on the extra board.

Not saying I would never work for JB, but turnover is a good indication of the quality of the job, and JB has a lot of turnover.

yes, but that is also true with every other trucking company in the industry. Anybody that says your company has LOW TURNOVER only means that your company only has 3 drivers...and the owner is one of them..lol

Are you a recruiter for JB. Sounds like it. I can speak from Experience about this company when I say they are lacking in some respects. will not get drivers home on time. Leave you sitting for hours on end. Cannot or will not change appt times even when receiver is waiting on load. They will tell when it is time time for you to get time off at home and then not get you there as promised. I don't know about anybody else, but I cannot work for a company that looks you in the eye and lies to you. but at least they lie to your face and not behind your back, like some of the other big companies do. If you go to work for them, just be prepared for the worse. The pay is okay, but like I said just be prepared. Do what you want just do not schedule anything at home for home time, because you probably wil not be home for it. be prepared to stay on the East Coast, and if you are the East Coast (N.J.
N.Y. and so forth) get used to it. That is where you will be.

I would have to disagree here a bit in that JB does have a good group of drivers. Do you realize how many 1, 2, & 3 million mile drivers they have?

The turnover comes mostly with new drivers (as in 0-6 mos exp) who have false pretenses about truck driving anyway or the veteran drivers who may have been spoon fed (allowed to do what they wanted) at their last company (which btw is out of business now) and can't or don't want to comply with JB's strict policies and guidelines.

Your right about LTL companies, they don't hire much - they can't afford to in some cases. In fact, during the early part of the recession guess who was laying off drivers right and left - LTL! Guess who is struggling in this market right now - LTL! Do you know who is sustainable and did not lay off any driver or manager - JB Hunt!

Turnover is going to happen regardless. It's been my experience that those individuals who change jobs like a baby changes diapers won't be happy regardless of where they work or what they do - they just like to complain alot and blame everyone else but them for thier issues.

    Just sayin!

Speaking from experience: how long did you work for JB? Where did you work for JB at? What division where you in?

Lacking in some respects - I agree but then you can place this tag on everyone in America.

As a regional driver I never had a problem getting home or staying out if and when I wanted. As a DCS driver I was home every night and the weekends.

As a manager that deals with the customer directly - I can tell you from experience (8yrs) that it's not up to me - the customer sets the appointment-period! I have some that are willing to work with us and some that do not. You have to understand that if they booked 10 trucks for delivery that day and we miss an appt its on us and were at their mercy. Which btw is the only time you would need an appt reset.

As for sitting for hours, I won't sugar coat it - your right but hey, this is trucking - tell me one company that doesn't sit waiting on a load, a customer, breakdown, etc. My guys sit sometimes, not for days but to give you an idea, we have a customer in Louisiana, a good customer because we get alot freight from them but bad in the fact that it takes forever to load there - average time is 3-5 hrs. So yea we sit sometimes. As for waiting on a load type of sitting, not very often - at least not in my division. I can't speak for others but I can see where Regional may suffer more and have drivers sitting for a day waiting on a load to book or something like that.

youre saying jb hunt didnt layoff a single driver as a positive thing? lol...there isnt a single OTR carrier that lays off drivers...even the ones going out of business.

FIRED,for any reason they can think of, or no reason at all. why? it costs money and they always get away with it, even though some would say theyre violating the law.

just about any LTL company is going to be a big upgrade to what youll get at jb for MANY reasons. the bigwigs at jb and the policies that have come down from the top are very unfriendly to drivers is the #1 reason for me.
