Keep calling. I don't know if they need any drivers from Fl right now. I'll be in Pittston on Friday so I'll ask Mort when I see him. I know we lost Garylobo back in August and they haven't hired anyopne else from down here. I love this time of year in South Florida. It sure beats the picture that I attached from last week.

Due to a desire to be able to answer any questions about my doings at Calex this past year I have come up with some numbers that are just as important as money.

    Layover:
2 days since January 1. Both paid for.

    Home time:
On average every 5 days for at least 2 full days. The last 3 months it's been every 4.5 days.

    Working conditions:
    Excellent communication and work environment.

The ability to plan my off time:
    Excellent.

    Preplanned Loads:
Minimally 2 loads per week. Most times for the whole week.

This isn't the perfect trucking job, but after doing this profession for 30+ years this has been the best company that I've worked for. And after 2 years and 3 months here this has been a perfect fit for the things that are just as important as pay.

I'm sure there are the occasional one hit wonders that will tell me otherwise, but my response to them is that I am doing what I enjoy, I look forward to getting up every morning to do my job, and because of financial planning I devoted myself to years ago, I don't have to run 4,000 miles a week and be gone 4,5,6 weeks at a time.

With the holidays coming up, and it always being a difficult time for some drivers to be home, I don't have that worry. In fact, I have already planned my holidays with my wife and family.

Because of the type of person I am I will always be of help to a fellow driver. New or old. I truly believe that if you help someone it will always come back to you. This industry has done an about face in the last ten years. I just hope with the little knowledge that some of us "old timers" have we can pass it along and hopefully get this back to some respectability.

Will I'm home, but not sure if I'm going to even get a reset as Louie says he needs me for something. The truck is in the shop for a turbo issue though, so I don't know when it'll be done. So I sit here in limbo not sure if I should start the "honey-do list" or not.

Anyway, I had an uneventful trip down to the bayous of Louisiana, only hitting a bit of rain in Mississippi. Got down to Houma and camped out at the Big Wheels truckstop just north of town in Gray LA. It's a nice little place. Quite clean, with one of the nicest driver TV rooms I've ever seen. It was small, but it had an overstuffed leather sofa and a few leather lounges with end tables and lamps. It felt more like a home living room then a truckstop.

The next day I delivered my playground equipment to the school. This was the first time I ever made a delivery on a soccer field! As usual, the folks who unloaded were very friendly.

From there I headed west on US90 to near Lafayette where I picked up my backhaul. A one stop straight through load to Berwick PA. Sweet! That trip was even more uneventful as the weather was gorgeous the entire trip! I delivered that yesterday morning, went to the terminal, turned in my paperwork and tractor/trailer write-ups and headed home.

All in all, a great run with good miles! My only worry now is just what's in store for me next, and if I don't get to reset, having to play the hours game with gaining them back from previous days.

All ready to leave in the morning. I'll be empty by 10am. Jason called today to let me know he sent a reload over the computer to my truck. I'm not sure where it's going. I'll fill everyone in when I'm getting empty. God bless and be safe.

Be safe John. I'll be getting my reset after all. The truck is still in the shop. The problem is indeed the turbo. I'll call in tomorrow to check on it's and my status.

    JohnBoy Thanks this.
