I'm on a dedicated run that takes about nine hrs to complete, when I get back to my terminal they ask me to switch some trailers around in the yard.
Do I log the time spent switching trailers on line 3 or line 4 ?

If you dont leave the terminal then my guess is line 4.

Technically, Line 3 Driving because you are at the controls of a CMV.
If you are using the yard goat, Line 4 On Duty because the yard goat could never be mistaken for a CMV.wildbill123 Thanks this. -
On duty not driving because you are in the yard or privately owned property not on the public roadways. When I worked the oilfields according to dot standards and fmcsa unless we were traveling on public roads or highways we were allowed to log all driving as on duty.

Question 9: A driver drives on streets and highways during the week and jockeys Commercial Motor Vehicles in the yard (private property) on weekends. How is the yard time to be recorded?
Guidance: On-duty (driving).wildbill123, Injun, otherhalftw and 1 other person Thank this. -
It depends how long you are doing it. If it was 2-3 trailers, they would get what I first dropped and the last one I hooked and 15-30 minutes on line 4. Unless the DOT man is hiding in the woodline with binoculars or you have an EOBR.
