I have the manual on the truck. Do yall think it would tell me anything about the fuel gauge?

The repair manual would, the owners manual maybe.

It working sometime and sometime not is not the sending unit. Sounds more like a wire/connection issue. Why do you say you have cluster issues?

Since it's exposed to weather, I would double check the connections at the sending unit. The wire(s) can be broke/corroded at the connector. I would get someone to watch the gauge while you wiggled them wires.

I say I have cluster issue because there are some other minor issues with it too.

The fuel gauge works sometimes when you are wiggling the harness in the back of the cluster. But soon as you put it back in the dash or hit a bump, it goes screwey again.

sonds like bad wiring or cold conection, just fix it. Cut a broken part of the wire, or re-soder conections

I found a guy that rebuilds them for $250, but has to be sent off to him up state so right now I don't have that kind of time to wait on shipping.

I took it apart tonight and can't see any bad connections on the circuit board so I wouldn't feel real safe just going in and trying to re-solder stuff and making it worst then it already is.

Are there any places that sell refurbished clusters or salvage yards I could get one from?

They are out of sight in price because they know what they are worth. Getting yours repaired is the most reasonable option. A salvage yard replacement may also have defects and good luck returning a defective electronic item. Once they get your money, they like to keep it on policy!
