I have a 99 Classic Xl. Brakes started sticking on when pressing the foot pedal, it wouldn't release the air pressure. In the morning the pedal would be really hard to depress then it would break free. I changed the foot valve thinking it was bad and just tried it this morning. Same thing after messing with it you can get the brakes to release and the pedal will come back. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Are your air dryer and spitter valve working? Temps below 30 have arrived in Michigan.

Air dryer is working along with the splitter.

Pablo, where is the valve you are talking about located?

    Thanks for the help!

Brake pedal pivot or actuator piston froze or packed with dirt and grime.

    heyns57 Thanks this.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to tear the dash a part but I think it might be that.

You have to remove the foot pedal. either pull the pin or remove the complete assembly, sand and clean all the parts. I lube with luberplate, and reassemble.

This valve in on frame x-member. You got the truck with Early Bosch ABS (and Knorr/Bendix brake system). So no accelerating abs valves were used and they used to put one accelerating valve on frame x-member in fifth wheel area.

It may look differently, but usually like this

But sometimes they do not install it.

One more hypotesa - pedal pin is rusty and when you release the pedal pins stays stuck.

Ouh, ATC valve... (ASR valve in Europe). Faulty valve may brake rear wheels.
