Newbie dropped by Mentor and now on his own and not happy

well that depends, What company?

 

I'm not a trucker, but I am a wife, and it used to be that any time my husband was upset about something I always used to try to get him to feel better by trying to have a positive outlook and saying that things were going to get better, etc. HOWEVER, unbeknownst to me it always pissed him off and finally he blew a gasket with me. Then, I got mad at HIM for not being appreciative of my "support." Long story short, he said that when he's upset, he doesn't want someone telling him that things will get better or to tell him about the brighter side of things, etc. (Anyway, I'm not saying you do this as this is my story). After THAT learning experience with the hubby, I waited.

Sure enough, he got upset about something else a few months later so, in remembrance of what he said, I told him, "Yeah, you're right. Things really are absolutely terrible for you...Hell, if I were you I don't think I could stand it and would just have to go find someplace to kill myself and end it all right now. It sure must suck to be you!"

LOL! Needless to say, he started laughing and called me an ###-hole. It ended up changing his entire outlook and his mood for the better. So, now, our running joke whenever he's upset (which is rare), I just say something similar to the above and he's laughing again.

tell him you are proud of him, facing up to the difficulties and challenges ahead- and be proud- its a hard task to learn and a lot to endure without the comforts of home being away from friends and family; so far he hasn t walked away has he ? so he's still giving it a shot, despite it all- it takes a brave man willing to do that- but things dont happen by giving up- and if he does, respect that still because it is not just a job driving a truck, it is a real and constant possiblity of someone getting seriously hurt or killed through inexperience- and there is no shame in accepting ones own limitations

 

Honestly...with my hubby being a newbie also I've learned to just get used to it. He will never be home when he thinks he will be. He will never have things exactly as he needs them and heck we are only in the first month of my husband driving. He was also told that he could be dropped at any training center, didnt have to be the one by his home. The best thing we have found is to tell ourselves this is only temporary. It may be bad now but once he learns the ropes and how things operate it will get better. Wishing you guys good luck!

 

Tell him to shift as smooth as he can and always watch his rpm and speedometer. Tell him you love him for the sacrifice of staying out and sleeping in a lonely truck, tell him you admire him for his courage to face challenges in that large vehicle and above all tell him you are there with him even though you are far apart.

 

just look him the eye and say in your most loving voice....... Shut up stupid I aint got no panties on . If he has had the CB on in the last couple of months he will get the joke and you both will be tickled .....LOL
