Not to call Barr-Nunn a bad company.I'd say they were ok.I had some problems with the way loads were planned. If they would ask for an ETA when they sent me a preplan.Or held off on setting a delivery appointment untill I reveiwed the preplan. Then I would'nt of had a problem. And I'd probably would still be driving for them. But,I could'nt drive the way that the load assignments required and had trouble making ontime deliveries without running over hours or tired most of the time.So I asked to be switched to their Florida regional. But ,they dropped my pay .05cpm to do this.So I decided to go with another company that paid .08cpm more.I hated turning in the truck I had.It was loaded with all the nice options.(prepass, ezpass, elec windows and mirrors also it was a fairly new truck).I'd rate them better than SNI,JB,CR England.Hopefuly the grass is greener at my next company???

I have been getting emails from Barr-Nunn and even got a $10 Flying J Gift Certificate from them. Their pay program appears top notch. I see some complaints in this section regarding mileage and maintenance.

Any current drivers have anything to report about working for Barr-Nunn. Good, bad, or indifferent.

FWIW, checking out airlines really isn't that big of a deal. In the drop and hook world I always do a quick inspection of the trailers and take the best looking one with the most recent inspection date.

    Comments please.

BARR-NUNN will promise you the world and deliver nothing. Their pay sounds really good and in fact it is. The only problem is getting the miles to make a good pay check. I worked for this sorry company for two years and watched as they did special favors for other drivers located in the Iowa area, I ask for a dedicated run as I had seen others do and were given it. I on the other hand was not allowed a dedicated run and my pay just kept dropping to almost nothing. Don't believe a word they are telling you. Run from this company, hell the owner of this company does not even care if you can make a living. BARR-NUNN is one sorry, half ##* trucking company.

DOT(Dept.of Treasury) caught you. Yup, you'll have to pay this one. the chaffing is in the book. But what about this company wanting me to pay for 70% of the repairs when I ran out of fuel on I74 about the 10mm.(Pilot @ 4 exit) The guage read 3/8 full.

Im only into week number 2 with the new company since I left B/N. So far, I guess they are OK. The jury is still out on this one. What re you looking for from the company? Big $$$$$ or respect or ?????? With B/N you'll get the big $$$$ whilst you please them. Forget about respect.... they've gone the way of all big companies. And as soon as you stop pleasing them it'll be tata to da Bum.:biggrin_25521:

I just took the North Carolina CDL test this week and in their book it says check the brake lines. Don't remember reading anything about chaffing. But then again you would be checking for.

My husband went to work for Barr Nunn in Jan of this year. He quit in April and they took his sign on bonus of $900 out of his last check. Also his recruiting expenes and then got a letter saying he still owed them $340 for miscellaneous. They wrote him up because he couldnt keep his log books legal with the loads they gave him. I would never suggest to anyone to work for Barr nunn. How can they take your sign on bonus back?

I currently work for this company in their north east regional division. The recruiters tell you that pay is guaranteed as long as you are available for dispatch. Unless your at home. Your home time will increase as bonus time approaches so that you make nothing extra. They will try to run you illegally if you let them. If you don't you get more home time. They also have a lot of short runs, some only 20 miles. The only promise that they have kept is home every weekend. I amm currently seeking other employment, but after 22 years in this business I feel that all of thse companies are full of it.
