O.K . , say $1.40 a mile on a 1,000 mile haul . That's $1,400 . Roadmedic quoted $.44 a mile for expenses . Horizon would say on their website the driver made $960 on this haul . The problem is you have to go 1,000 miles back . Subtract another $440 from your income . Now you have $520 for running 2,000 miles . That's $.26 a mile using your truck .
Some people are o.k. with that , especially retirees collecting a pension as supplemental income .

look at it this way... lets say you get 2000 paid miles a week, 4000 altogether, now at 1.40 pm that's 2,800.00 right, now fuel is 4.00 a gal so at 15mpg, 266x4.00=1,064.00, now 6 nights in a hotel@ 50.00 per night =300.00, now take 200.00 per week for a new truck, and 150.00 for repairs. so this is what we get. $2,800.00-1064.00-300.00-200.00-150.00=$1086.00

Not what I want to make for driving 4000 miles, but its not all that bad.

some RV transporters dont use the hotel option, many a times i've seen them parked at the T/S utilizing the back seat of their trucks, or some have a actual dot approved sleeper behind the cab.

That's the minimum I get as a company driver for bobtail and deadhead . I also get all the benefits - holidays , vacation , insurance , etc . . I don't know of anybody running solo 4,000 miles a week but if I did I'd make over $2,000 a week . (I said $.40 was minimum . Many miles are $.50 or higher )
Bigray , some sleep in the RV's . They aren't supposed to but many have master keys for the doors . :biggrin_25525:

yah, but these guys don't have a cdl or training. just pretty much buy a pickup truck and work.
I wouldn't want to do it for that price, but they are making a living I guess...

Why use a master when they give you the keys anyway?
