"Schneider has a variety of tanks of many ages. The tanks themselves don't wear out and Schneider keeps the rest of the trailer in good repair."

Just wait till you do a few pre trips!! (Flat tires, bad brakes, valve leaks etc...)
Most of the delays blamed on the drivers are really trailer issues.

High pressure air ?? The most our tanks are certified for is 30 lbs. . We usually air off around 25 psi . Some customers use their air and I hate that . One had a relief plug pop and break the windshield of a pickup in their parking lot . That was with a different driver.
Some customers charge the tank with nitrogen to air off hazmat loads .

Running with my training engineer today and for the rest of the week and next week.

Learned an interesting bit today. Loaded at a chemical plant, drove to another, they changed the tags on our valves and sent us on our way. Tomorrow that tank will be delivered to the final customer. Same stuff different brand.:biggrin_25524:

Don't know if that is a blind shipment.

Today I learned why bulk over the road guys appreciate the local fellows. Spent 6 hours waiting and scaling while our 4 compartment tank was filled with 4 different brands of basically the same automotive chemical. Think windshield washer fluid. Scale, wait, fill, scale times 4. Then get the final paperwork and get the shipment ready to cross the border.

If I was being paid by the mile I would spit. But the local guys get the tanks filled, drop them off at the yard and relay them to the guys taking them to the customers. The local guys are the over the roads driver's best friends.:biggrin_25514:

We were on the clock while loading, unloading, fueling, pre trips, breakdowns, and at the tank wash. All the driving was mileage pay. If we worked the local board for the day we were on the clock.
