I don't see any link to the actual regulations. There are currently no drug testing firms in Mexico so I don't know how their samples will be collected or by whom.

That page basically references a US reg, then in the next column states that, for example, "Mexico requires Requires a comprehensive physical and psychological examination", but doesn't tell us what that consists of.

I appreciate the link, but I just don't see anything of substance there.

142 trucks? I read somewhere that it will be by the time the plan is fully instituted, it will be 100 Mexican Trucking COMPANIES that will be able to operate anywhere in the US. That comes to way more than 142 trucks.

So, what do we do? We invite lower paid outside competition... Not a smart move in my book...

You want people to work? Easy. You start by reducing the Government subsidy (Welfare) and quit bailing out poorly-run companies that can't realize a profit.

There seems to be a weird idea in this country that businesses shouldn't fail. Hmph... So the Fed continually bails them out, the US Railroad industry comes to mind. Let them fail. Capitalism favors companies that are run intelligently and can compete in the marketplace.

Not subsidizing and importing of cheaper labor...

I don't think that's true. They don't want to work for minimum wage...

When they pay 8 dollars an hour in the chicken plants in the east, and
10 an hour at fast food joints in the west it makes you wonder
who is making minimum wage. Mostly people who don't want to work,
don't know how to work, or are getting welfare on the side. Minimum wage
is not there for people to make permenently. You do a good job at 7-11
for a while, while your there a customer sees you are a hard worker and
gives you a job lead for a dollar more an hour, you work your way up.
But if you can't hustle and keep the coffee fresh and the kooler stocked
7-11 fires you and your stuck at minimum wage. Thats the natural order
of things. Thats the way it is and should be.

Did a search of that link and came up with this.....
As you can see many were tested in the US.

I am two weeks from getting my CDL and am very concerned about Mexican truckers being allowed into the US. I worked for several years for a large computer chip manufacturer and lost my job because they moved my department to INDIA!
So I went to college until I couldn't afford to go anymore and decided instead to drive truck.
Being new to the industry it really pissed me off the Bush is not going to let more non US citizen threaten my job!
I sure hope that something is done about this in the future. I'm not a racist in any way but I'll be ###### if I ever help out a trucker from Mexico while I'm on the road, I'll send the illegal in the wrong direction.

Perhaps now the DOT people will now focus more attention on Mexican trucks for a change. They're not too hard to spot, need I say More?
I can only guess they will be scrutinized more by our DOT. Especially in the northern states. Fuget about the southwest though. We're screwed there.

Well then, I guess it points out a basic flaw in the system doesn't it? That we are failing our own citizens... "Don't want to work? Well, not to worry. We'll simply find someone who will, and for less money. Simpler to pay you off then to educate you."

But it's still no rationale to bring in outside competition when we have a large base of unemployed workers right here in the US.

We need to secure our borders and stop giving the American jobs away to other countries, big companies take the jobs overseas so they make more money bottomline.

Mexican Trucks are coming here to save big companies money and we the working class stiffs won't see a dime of savings bottomline. All will see is money going south. For all you supporters of this, I'll bet your singing a different song in a couple years. Lets see how many more American companies take their manufacturing companies south of the border to benefit from the cheap mexican labor and NOW CHEAP MEXICAN SHIPPING COST! I heard on the radio today that the average mexican earns $67.00 a week in mexico.

I would like to see someone put together a list of companies contracting with these 100 mexican companies and let's make sure the owners of these companies know how we feel.
