Weirdest place was a monastery in Kandahlia, TX (I think that's how it's spelled, it's been a few years). This is a tiny town on a tiny road with a guy named "Booger Red" ( that's what he told me) and the monastery. It was a load of building supplies, and they were nice people. They heard my accent and thought I was from NYC so they were proud of the Bagel Chips they were eating!!! It was a weird place to get into and I'd never been to a place with monks before, I'd never even met one until that day. I said "####" and they crossed themselves. Because I have a horrible sense of humor and love to entertain myself I thought of saying more light swears to see if they'd do it to everyone but thought better of it. Lol.

We hauled Anti Ballistic Missles to a Secret Sub base and they put them in a Sub and it left before we got our chains and tarps put away. Had 2 escorts in front and 1 in back and they didn't talk to us. I was shocked to see it and I asked the crane op why they left so fast and he said they didn't want to be caught above the surface. Place only have a 4 acre fenced area, a small dock and crummy yellow Navy Crane.

...this was a tad bit difficult to get into - there's about 3 inches on each of the mirrors while squeezing through.

Not Wierd but along the tight dock line. Notice the building damage from other trucks. This was Erie, PA. Backing between two power poles off a residential street. I wish I had taken a zoomed out pic.

Weirdest run I had picked up at what I thought was a furniture place. Turned out to be some guys house in backwoods Central Florida. They loaded me on the side of the road by his driveway. The receiver didn't have an address. All they had was some directions that ended with "look for the three green barns". We got there early. The lane going to the barns went on to some houses. We found out later that one of the residents called the cops because we were parked there but the cops couldn't find it.

Over the years I have delivered to some "interesting places" including all of the big cities and never really had any problems.
But the one that sticks out was a brand new 40' custom built horse trailer that I had to deliver somewhere deep in the back hills of Kentucky.
I call the number I got from the shipper, big old boy with bib overalls driving a new Caddy and a huge cigar meets me just off the state highway. Think boss hog but twice his size and you would be close.
Tells me to follow him, and don't go anywhere he doesn't,,, O.K. "most" of the roads were paved, but they must have only been 9' wide. I'm in my T2000 75" aerocab 53' spread axle stepdeck.
We go weaving around all these turns and I'm watching my compass and I'm sure we went in a big circle, turn off and come up to this old broken down farmstead.
He has two guys with forklifts waiting for us, they sure must like there hunting down there as both of them had rifles on their forklifts.
Trying to make small talk I asked what they grew there, guys on the forklift never said a word,I was told tobacco by the big guy, but somehow I don't think it was for Camels or Winstons.
They unloaded me, big guys takes me back out to the highway by a different route, gives me 50 bucks, tells me to just log my drop at the intersection where he meant me and drives off.
It was a little weird. -
^ hehe ol big bubba was growin some homegrown in them backwoods.
I took a load of lumber to Torrence state hospital here in PA where they keep some criminally insane....There's some oddballs out there who believe its haunted...Last edited: Feb 28, 2012
