Lady rookie driver to team with American male driver whats the best approach?

just a suggestion, but you may want to take her in the truck for a few weeks. it seems that is a way to make sure you can deal for months or years together I know its different when its just you two for 24 7

 

Get married.


Its fun and the the wedding will have a heck of a good party, lots of gifts, and stuff.

People get married for simpler reasons.

This is a good idea. You may not be able to stand one another after cooped up time together.


Another thing I thought about... if the OP went off to become Canadian, and got the Canadian license, then would it be like he had no experience in Canada? I don't know that there is a difference in that and other countries, but I thought when somebody came to the US from another country and got their CDL that it didn't matter how long they had been driving, that it looked like they had no experience. Is Canada different? If not and that were the case, would it not be hard to find somebody to hire a rookie team? Just asking cause I was wondering, I do not have facts, just throwing it out there.

 

My wife is Canadian... uh, to put it gently... find an American girl, it'll be a LOT easier.

 

American experience is counted here...Just have to get a Canadian Licence...bigger problem is that just like in America, nobody wants to do the paperwork...easier to hire someone who is already a resident...but persistance is key!

Also, someone mentioned higher pay in Canada, which is true, but cost of living is higher...although if you guys run team you can save lots of $$$$!!! Good Luck!

 

maybe we could possibly do some trading here--i am a canadian with american wife--still waiting for my work authorization(hopefully only 3 more months)----will trade her and house and 56 chev for younger canadian girl--must be under 40 with house and nice old car
just kidding of course--but it is a long drawn out process--was much easier when i would just work 6 weeks then take a week off and be here--but trying to do the right thing takes so long and so expensive --but in end it will be worth it

I know this thread is a few months old, but maybe you are still gonna read this.....Call Heyl from Akron,IA. They have trailers with the logo "partners across the border" and do have a terminal in Edmonton, and do have Canadian drivers. Don't know if you could team together, but they certainly could give you some guidance there. Good Luck
