Being placed with PAM through Driver Solutions, opinions please

Rollin 2003 is basically half full of crap. Most of the trainers don't give a dump about you, you are a fat paycheck to them. Some are really decent men, but I didn't get one. PAM will shift you all over the place, give you three thousand miles one week and two hundred the next. Don't freak if you are in the hole to them, you will need that weekly advance against what you earn at least twice a month. The trucks are NOT well maintained. My FL broke down twice, old truck. Then I was in an INTER. 9004 which is a POS and it ran okay, but the co driver was a pig. Trainer was a pig. No shower stops but every four days. Then your solo time will be great, but you are rolling dice on the miles. Now with a good co driver but the truck breaks down about every three weeks. Pro star. So six months to go and I can tell PAM to stuff their BS road managers who could give a dump about you. Go to JUNIOR COLLEGE and save yourself about five grand, get with ConWay or someone after that if you can. Don't pick PAM. C One training school is close to inept as you can get. My medical benefits are good here and I am not missing meals, but this four weeks out and truck break downs and low miles are not good. Soon a regional deal and better pay. BUYER BEWARE.

 

Before you sign anything with anyone, look around these forums and read what people have to say. Look in the company DAC report section, the good company section, and the bad company section. Take everything everyone says, be it good or bad, with a grain of salt; some things with two grains of salt because some folks just like to complain and blame their faults on others. Ask questions! I think a lot of folks on here don't mind answerin' a question or two via PM. Listen to what the old timers and experienced drivers have to say.

 

Okay so which half is full of crap?
Been training my current student for three weeks now.
We have not broken 3,000 miles, got close one week.
We were laid over 3 days.
Bought student a couple of dinners, stopped at Walmart so he could get some food to use in my cooler.
Watched TV everynight with my Dish Network.
He will graduate this week with over a 100 hours.
And right now we are repowering a load to Michigan from Carlise, PA.
I get paid really well and get by with 2500 miles a week for my bills.
I train drivers every other month, I try not to train back to back.
So which half is full of crap?

First I will agree with Rollin wholeheartedly and I completely believe you have crossed the line in saying that he's full of crap.

I agree C1 is probably not the best option, but a lot of us don't have anything but the worst option. Life is about choices. You can choose and stay working you're nine to five until you save up to go to that community college -(that is unless you are not fortunate enough to receive the classes free from your local unemployment office : I didn't qualify for that, as many people that I know haven't either) OR you can choose to get your buttcheeks up and go do what you want to do for a living. You're acting like you just made the worst decision of your life man.

From this and your other post it just seems to me that trucking's not for you. Run, run like the wind away from it; we need not your kind here.

I got off my buttcheeks and applied for and received pell grants to go to truck driving school, not through unemployment office. Still had some out of pocket exspenses, but no where near what people are paying at C-1. Just sayin, there are other ways to get your CDL, especially since most people on here complain about the quality and price of the education they receive at C-1.

 

I would rather have taken a course through a community college or something, so I could get more hands on training. But, since I was able to stick it out for my year contract, and the fact that I pick up things quickly, I'd say the $1400 is a relatively cheap price to get a CDL and employment with little to no experience.

 

Isnt it hard to land a job even if you land your CDL without much OTR?
