I have been scratching my head working on an ISX. About every 2500miles the oil pressure goes down to about 20psi. Replace the oil filter and pressure pops back up. I have seen this before, but it's usually caused by extended oil drain interval, or something mechanically wrong. I have had the oil pan off, replaced the oil pump, new o ring on pick up tube, new oil, new filter, new oil filter bypass plunger and spring. new air filters. checked base and static injection timing. checked charge air system, turbo looks good. DPF, DOC have been cleaned. I have cut the oil filters open, no debris just distorted(collapsed). No contamination in oil (fuel or coolant) sent away oil sample results good??????? Help
ISX Low Oil Pressure

50000 miles after the engine blew up in Pensylvania , big hole in the block , went from 60mph to 0 in few seconds ,scary stuff, smoke and oil all over the windshield. -
yea , oil was changed in that volvo each 15.000 miles at speedco ,betwen oil changes i usually changed 3 times the oil filter .

don't know the problem, but my friend had the same problem with two of his trucks same engines, the mechanics said no problems......,but in the next few thousand miles the two engines blew like crazy.FIND THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!

Using Fleetguard filters? If so, there have been issues in the past with them. Supposed to have been cured by Fleetguard with newly designed filters, but these problems seem to still crop up once in a while. I have never had a problem, but then, I have used Donaldson filters since I bought the truck.

if you replace the oil filter and the pressure comes back up then either the oil filters are the problem or something in the oil like high soot levels.

i don't know if that helps with your problem but i also have isx475 and lucky me with out it riight now, but......company i drove before with around 200 isx's in their fleet they change bearing on the main engine shaft!!!! they do this when low oil pressure is seen or engine is between 800.000 - 900.000 miles .also heard that from many other mechanics and isx owners in chicagoland ,i'm not mechanic but trying to help, cost of this is with new bearing set, oil and filters around 1200-1500$$$ depense if you need oil pan gasket ,front and back seals...... also take head cover off and check if camshaft have some loose .....these are most important ISX ponits !!!! that's my advice, GOOD LUCK

depending on what year engine you have, there may also be a crankcase ventilation filter, has it been changed too?

Oh wow , just use a higher quality oil filter, such as K & N . Or split oil lines in parallel to lower oil pressure going to the filters.
