IMO every driver should be a member,O/O or company, makes no difference, they are the only voice we as a group have in D.C. against all the B.S. that they are constantly trying to shove down our throats. If OOIDA had 3 or 4 million drivers on the roster, think how much more clout they would have when speaking to rule makers. Company drivers don't think they do anything for you? well everything that O/O's and companys get hit with will eventually affect you one way or another,Sheet rolls down hill.:yes2557:

I am currently a company driver and I joined OOIDA. I like what they do and support it and there is a lot of useful information on their site. If you lease onto a carrier you can send them your lease and they will review and explain it to you at no cost other than the yearly dues, try getting a lawyer to do that for $45. And that is just one of the things they offer.

I have been a member for several years. I do not always agree with every single position they take, but that is no way means I think I should jump ship. Actually, I think they have the right idea sometimes, but fail to take the right approach in how drivers could help themselves on some issues. Overall, it is a good organization that really tries to take on quite a bit.

On their stand against Minnesota, they did a pretty good job. I think where they dropped the ball, was in how each and every driver should deal with MN troopers if this comes up again, which it will in some form or another. Some of this could have been avoided by some drivers by just watching a couple of good free videos on how to deal with law enforcement put out by a couple of college law professors.

This could probably help the membership instead of waiting for months and months for some court action to happen. OOIDA could be a little more proactive and provide membership with information.

I realize they have a lot on their plate, since they are really the only group out there that is trying to lobby and fight for drivers. But I think it would be more effective if it would work on ways of showing the membership how to be more active in these issues as well.

If one can find something better, by all means, don't hold back! Let us know. Until then, more drivers and owners should hop on the OOIDA wagon and be counted.

I've been a member for about a year, they gave me a good rate on my physical damage insurance, also they were instrumental in keeping the fmcsa from forcefully requiring carriers withe a high safe stat to put on board recorders in the trucks. I like them and I am a proud member.

Being a member of OOIDA is good thing and the closest thing to being represented as a group in the industry.

Just listening to them on Landline now talking about Todd Spencer exposing those on the DOT board that have conflicts of interest on the sleep apnea recommendation mandate because they own stock in sleep apnea machine manufacturing companies.

Can we do this by ourselves without OOIDA in DC representing us?

    No!

Owner Operator or Company Driver, do yourself and the industry a favor by joining OOIDA now.

I been a member for about a year now. I wish I had joined sooner. They provide some good services and information, plus they go to bat for a drivers, not just O/Os. The more members there are, the more they can provide.
