I've put my time in, who pays the most and who runs with faster trucks

Unless you're going to be running a lot out west (or coast to coast), I honestly don't know why you'd want such a truck with the way they are cracking down on speed to make up for budget shortfalls, and the new CSA rules. But if you find one you'll probably not have to deal with eLogs, at least.

The fastest company trucks I've seen are in the 69-70 MPH range but I don't think that's fast enough for you, and those are far and few between. I'd say you'll have to maybe work in a lessor's truck or get into your own truck. The fast company trucks are a thing of the past with a few rare exceptions.

Buy your own and go "triple digit trucking" Anything over 67 is nice to have in a pinch but is worthless when it comes to fuel economy. If the price of fuel was 2.50 a gal or less then everybody would go real fast but its not and no sense in wasting that money going down the road.

 

You can be sure my trucks going 70 if the speed limit allows, going 62 in a 70 zone is making you a hazard to other traffic trying to obey the law...

 

Smaller companies that haul their own product tend to care less about fuel mileage. Helps if the company is run by crusty old ex drivers.

 

Logan, a guy driving 62mph in a 70 is obeying the law. Just the same as the guy doing 70 is.

I don't even know what I was trying to get at, I'm very glad my truck is governed at 75mph and I can go the speed limit if I so choose to.

 

I hear ya Logan as my truck has no governor but I choose 67 as I have my best results on CC just letting it do its thing.

 

My "company" truck is governed at 73 mph. When I run the interstate, I can at least keep up with the traffic flow. However most of the time I'm running 68-69mph. If there's much wind, even running 65, I'll only get around 4.5 mpg. Empty, no wind and I can squeeze 6.4mpg, running around 70mph.
