Mustang, I am happy to report I haven't had to deal with ice yet...and may it ever be so. A little snow and sleet here and there, but nothing ice road truckerish yet.

They have been keeping me busy. Took off Monday morning from Chattanooga to Vance, AL with a parts load for Mercedes. Then they had me do a couple local jaunts from the Birmingham yard. Then they sent me bobtailing 58 miles one way to get a trailer that needed to be worked on and take it to the Birmingham yard. After that I got a load to Florence, AL where I had one minute left on my clock when I bumped the dock.

Today I delivered that load to Memphis where I fueled, did some care taking to the truck and got a nice LONG shower. Then they sent me near Tupelo to get a load that I will deliver in Ashboro, NC on Thursday morning. All in all over 1500 miles by Thursday morning. Can't complain. I am glad I get a relatively easy day on the big roads tomorrow.

I can't say enough good things about Averitt. Even the small idiosyncrasies that seem strange are easy to deal with. I talked to a Swift driver today that is going to do an online application tonight.

Time to hit the rack. Be safe.

What a day! Delivered in Ashboro and then got a load to relay to PA. Had to pull the hills of WV is fog and rain. It wasn't that bad but I find that kind of weather wears me out mentally by the end of the day. Tomorrow I pick up a load in Darlington, PA and take it to Knoxville. Problem is, I will most likely have to do a 10 hour break at Knoxville so I won't get home until sometime Saturday. That happened to me last weekend as well. UGH!

And of course the only place to park for the night is a rest area on I-79. When I got here there was a small spot near the start of the on ramp I was able to parallel into. While this has been a great second week as a solo driver, I will be happy to get home after the last couple of days. More later. Be safe!

Glad you are having better luck with the company than myself. Maybe it's your location and dispatcher... I was not so lucky.

I left and went with Carroll Fulmer despite reviews, after all, Averitt had plenty of happy employees and positive reviews which I based my decision to join them on, and did not turn out for me. First load out of the gate a nice 1100 miles with some spare time sending me right by the house for a day of r+r after orientation... with a preplan following that up keeping me in the know all the way until next Wednesday. Very nice if you ask me. Let's hope they can keep it up and I will have NO complaints. Not to mention I was given a choice of tractor including a brand new 2012 Mack(DEF) but I declined for a 2010 no def. Probably the nicest/cleanest fleet of trucks I have ever seen. I think I will be happy here for a little while. Wish me luck!!!... and the same back to the rest of you regardless of the name on the side of your truck.

Gavin, best of luck in your move to CF. Hope it goes well.

This week I ended up with right at 2500 miles and got home around noon on Saturday. I will finish a load to Stone Mountain, GA in the morning.

I cannot say enough good about Averitt thus far. I had a couple small maintenance issues this week and they got taken care of pronto at our Service Centers. I even got a personal email from Gary Sasser responding to an email I sent to someone else saying how much I appreciated Averitt's treatment of me thus far.

Lord only knows what this week will bring. My miles may suck, but I do know I will be home on the weekend and that means so much to me. Then again, I may hit another 2500-3000 miles. AllI know is everything they have promised me thus far they have kept thier word. I like that.

Monday was a fun day. I spent the vast majority of it doing short hauls around Atlanta. Not too bad, really. Then I got a load from Stone Mountain to Cleveland, TN. Right by my house. So I got to spend another night in my own bed.

After my delivery this morning, I picked up a load in Chattanooga going to Burnsville, NC. It wasn't supposed to deliver until tomorrow morning but when I got here they had me unloaded in less than an hour. Plenty of places to park for the night AND free visitor wifi. Nice. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Good deal! I am still fighting whatever ailment that latched onto me Friday. Obviously not a three day bug as I originally thought.
But I will be back in the saddle in the morning.

From the throne to the saddle, eh? Hope you get feeling better. I had a bug on Sunday that had me a bit worried but it passed quickly. Now my wife and grandson both have it.

Nothing like driving when you feel like crap.

Another week almost in the bag. I delivered at a stop in Lawrenceville, GA where they inadvertently took one too many pallets off the trailer. Ten miles into my trek to Columbus, GA and my final stop I get a phone call from the folks in Cookeville to please turn around and head back to my last stop so they could put the pallet back on. No problem.

Now I am in White, GA taking a load of tires to Grand Prairie, Texas. Monday delivery so I am headed home late tonight or early tomorrow morning for my home time and will head on out toward Texas early Sunday morning.

No complaints. Still loving it here. I promise, I would share the crap storms if there were any and will if they come my way. Hope you stay safe.

Just had a tour of the Nashville TN hub Friday afternoon with the driving class I'm in. Very impressive operation. Definitely keeping Averitt on my "after I get some experience" list.

Had a couple of rough days but everything is back on track now. Yesterday there were a couple of times I wondered what the HECK was I thinking getting back into driving for a living. Time heals all wounds though.

I went ahead and invested $299 on the Rand McNally 510 trucker GPS. I like it very much. It is easy to use it with the RM Atlas. Even gives you page numbers to look at in the atlas so you can reference that with the map on the screen. Pretty cool.

I covered 540 miles with one quick bathroom break today. I won't do that again unless I can help it. I am parked at a tiny BP truck stop in Bunker Hill, IN and the view from my windshield is a large correctional facility. Tons of barbed wire and big signs that say "Do NOT Pick Up Hitchhikers." Not gonna be problem.

Will probably sleep with one eye open if I don't get a dispatch to get me out of here this afternoon.

    Gunner710 and scottied67 Thank this.
