Sleeping on a park bench to get a great job wouldn't be much of a sacrifice. Of course that great job isn't trucking.

Before I quit smoking, I had no will power to do much but stay at a dead-end job...on 10-10-10 I threw away the smokes...I have learned since then "To do something great in my life, you HAVE to have the will power to do it!!"
Quiting was the hardest thing for me to do...now, I no longer drive a desk (laid off) and I WANT to drive a rig...if it wasn't for these forums, I would have been in a culture shock of what truckers go through. I feel like...no...I know I have the will power to succeed in this industry. (and it helps that my roots at home do not run deep...I'm still single) -

Well Delta 5,
I have been out of trucking for seven years and my Desk job ended abruptly
I am looking at getting back into the loop but I don't think I have the strength for the heavy tarps . Flatbed is the only place that I know I could start at .39 cpm .
Any Ideas Delta 5 ?

This place cracks me up sometimes. Half the posts say don't put up with crap. The other half are don't whine and put up with crap.
It's not that bad out here. It sucks at times for sure but some of you make it sound like you have to climb Mt. Everest every day to get the job done. Wives and girlfriends, personal problem. Ending up in jail, personal problem. You can't blame that crap on a job. Relationships maybe slightly, but it most likely made problems worse rather than create them. You can always quit if it is the job and if you'd rather choose trucking over your wife, once again, personal problem.Treefork Thanks this. -
This is why the good times are on the way back. The BFI's are slowly sifting through the wannabes. One by one they are falling to the wayside, whether it's drugs, lack of work ethic, alcohol, laziness, lack of skill, etc. Every person that whines on this board about being fired, starved out, etc. is one less piece of 'meat in the seat' for the trucking companies. Soon they will run out of qualified applicants, and the ones that are left will command decent wages and benefits. Patience, grasshoppa.delta5 Thanks this. -
I think if you're committed to being a professional and have good work ethic, you can rise through the ranks into the best gigs on the road. It helps if you actually like what you're doing too.
