I was travelling cross country a few years ago in a 4 wheeler using my credit card at gas stations. Right about midway in Tulsa, OK it wouldn't work anymore and I had plenty still on my limit. I called the CC company and they had automatically shut it off because they noticed and unusual use. So I told them it was just me driving to Ca and they turned it back on. It was inconvienant for a bit, but I actually appreciated that they at least noticed this and tried to do something to stop potential fraud.

Yeah, that is sweet, that they were looking out for you.

I think that I will let him know that if he needs to fuel next time at the same place, to push the pay inside thing and then fuel.

Who knows when he will be back there, but its good information to have. Thanks guys!:biggrin_25514:

The company I just left had daily limits on fuel cards along with monthly limits as well. It started at $500 a day and $3000 a month.(I was a local guy and just didn't have to use that much fuel) They raised it not too long after I started there because the road drivers were maxing out their cards too often.

Many times, when I was in the dump truck, I would pull into a regular station that also sold diesel and be limited to the amount I could purchase.

Some local stations around the area here have also limited what I could buy for my personal pick-up with my credit card. I guess they figure $50.00 is plenty of money to fill up a pick-up truck...NOT. I've also seen a good thing a time or two at a pay at the pump station. Requiring a zip code before fueling to make sure it's the actual users card...

Had it happen a few times(pilot) $150 dollars worth... I simply fueled again and again.... 3 times.... Some people do not have this option due to their card may only allow 1 transaction in a certain period of time..

Another option is: Paypal offers a Visa/MC, that you dictate the funding source. It can be changed anytime you want online. It can be piggy backed on the credit card you are now using. If your card company has issues with multiple transactions from the same place, split the transactions between the two. It all will wind up being charged to the same account, but from two different sources.

I carry a Visa for fuel on the truck, with a Paypal Mastercard piggy backed on it. Some Flying Hooks prefer Mastercard over Visa.
