    Some other basic words are phrses that are good to know,

    when you are going through the scale the lane that say "Vide" means empty, the lane that says "Charger" means loaded,

    Voie means lane, refering to the roads, "Voie gauche fermer", means left lane closed, "Voie droite fermer" means right lane closed.

    Lentment = slowly

    Route = Road
    also Chemin is road when it comes to street addresses, as in Chemin Montreal means Montreal Road

    Rue = Street

    Camion = Truck

    Remorque = trailer

    Interdit = prohibited, Camions Interdit means trucks forbidden

    I don't like going to Quebec either. I can't read, or speak French, and don't plan to learn how. I have been there a few times and didn't like it.

    In ontario if there was a street sign only in english there would be hell to pay. Go to quebec and not one english sign nor any big deal about that fact. Absolute stupid double standard going on in this country.

    Usually the close provincial boundary towns aren't too bad, it's more towards Montreal I find issues.

    XLS, you should have been around when all we hauled was GM, Ford, & Ford glass for 80% of our freight.
    We were in and out of Canada, Ontario & Quebec all the time.
    Road signs were the worst. But you picked up things, and if the signs had pictures, all the better.
    Always seemed that most folks in Quebec could speak English, I think its taught.
    But there were the purists that would simply refuse.
    We haul out of a place St de tre Emphriums, way the Hell out there.
    Go there, check in at plant, they will page the one English speaking person in the whole plant to come down and help.
    Your right on ordering food in the small cafes in Quebec.
    I try to limit myself to coffee.
    I think it gets real bad when Spanish is your primary language, limited English
    I will say, those Canadians, are sure down on what they call the Hodgies.
    But then, I don't think the rest of Canada cares much for the French Canadians.
    I remember my dad and uncles would cuss em.

    Even for us from Quebec it is not easy to go at the Paccar plant. With all the construction etc.

    No you won't jeopardise your cdl if you don,t speak French. Most of shipper will help you. When peoples see that your from the US they will do their very best to help you out! :biggrin_2551:

    Did anyone hear the news today about Berkeley, CA?

    City council voted to pay $20k for any city employee that wishes a "gender change" operation!

    So...in the Bay Area....you can switch on the taxpayers dime!:biggrin_2552:
