I am thinking of going with Celadon for a second company. I was seeking pros and cons from current drivers of being a company driver and lease op. I am currantly driving for Western Express and actually like it, but looking for more then .29 a mile. I know for the lease I have to have 9 months. please give advice I would apreciate it. ty

I have only been with the company since late January. So far I am quite happy here. They keep me busy. I generally get a 600-700 mile run every day (weekends are a little scetchy). The pay is so-so. If it were better I would be really impressed, but "you gotta pay your dues". They do treat you like an adult here, so if you are one of those that needs to be micro managed....... They tell you right up front that if you screw up and violate the rules, it will cost you. I was just put into a brand new 2013 tractor recently, so I cannot complain about that. Very nice equipment, lots of newer trailers, good customer base from what I have seen, and they just bought up another smaller company this week. Overall, I am happy that I chose them. Oh yeah....The lease thing....I personally would avoid that, but I would never do that with any company. I would prefer to just stay a company driver until I get more time in this business.

Do you not have any better options ?? -
Yes I have been looking into other options Celadon is just one of them. I have already been in contact with someone from Melton, JB Hunt dedicated for CandS Bethlaham, and an o/o running acouple of trucks to name a couple was just looking for info from drivers on Celadon at this point.

I've heard the most recent lease agreement isn't very good.
Now keep in mind this is only what I've heard and I don't know if the people who told me knew the ins and outs of lease purchase so they could be right, they could be wrong. I've heard having a lawyer look over the lease agreement is always a good idea. -
i have taken some buisness classes when i was in college, so i can read a contract if i don't understand something i would take to my lawyer. but this is just one of options.

My buddy told me he called Celadon last month to ask about a job. Hes got 12 years experience. They offered him 26 cpm. He laughed and hung up.
