Ok Thank you Jim... I am driving for Schneider right now and its irritating when you have to stop at this pilot instead of being able to go 30 miles down the road to a better pilot. We have the 10%OOR but when you have to use exact fuel stops it really determines your route lol.
What about tolls? do they reimburse you for all? do they have toll passes for Oklahoma or Kansas?

Also, If a driver wants to do they ever train them in all of the lines of buisness? If I am just flatbed, and I wanted to, would they train me for the glass and th OD lines of buisness?

Toll passes cover MOST tolls. I think I-70 in Kansas (K-Tag?) is the only toll I ever had to send in a receipt for.

Back when Schneider Specialized was still alive...they did have drivers that were "cross trained". I forget what they called them, they had a name for it...but they hauled glass, pulled tanks, and regular flat bed stuff...
It never worked out very well though...it was hard to carry all the flat bed and glass securement stuff....plus the weight of the hoses, pump, etc. for the tanks....it was just too much weight and too much stuff (nowhere to put it all)
Rodney,
Pull flats for a while then maybe they'll give you a shot at MSO...its not as glamorous as it sometimes sounds...but it ain't all bad either.JimTheHut Thanks this. -

Well, I just wanted to say thanks to Jim and all the others that have been adding to this post. It truly helped with the decision to join Maverick. I head to NLR tonight to eval out tomorrow and get my truck. The last four weeks on the trainer truck was a good experience, and while learning allot, my trainer Jason made it an enjoyable experience. One never knows how things are going to work out when you put two people in a confined space for a period of time, but it worked out just fine. Jim, you were right about not having much room on the top bunk, but after running all day, falling asleep was not an issue.
My only concern is that my trainer was on a US Steel account, and all we loaded was coils. We pulled a covered wagon, so I did not get to tarp any loads. Good side of this was we were always in a neighboring state of my home state, never far from home.
Mills that we picked up from were Gary, Portage, Pittsburg, Leipsic, Ecorse. It will be interesting to see where they place me once I'm on my own. Last load was out of Ecorse. Dan, another Maverick driver, Jason and I walked up to the Chinese restaurant at the entrance to the mill, and got a dinner to go as it was getting late.
Once again, thanks to everyone!
Be Safe,

KRoskey good luck with the eval, I sure it won't be a problem. I am sitting at the Galloway right now waiting for my trainer which I am told should be here tomorrow
