Hi,
I am considering going with HEartland Express. What can you tell me aboutthis company and how well they run you and the money you can make and anything else.
Thanks!

I was under the impression that they didn't hire new drivers. I hear they pay very nicely though.

The Jacksonville fleet is not too bad.
But you will be out of region allot when you first start. Most fleets are pretty good about getting you home most weekends. But you will probably be out some.
I read an add a while back that the highest earning driver in the company was running that region last year. And was home every weekend. And some week nights.
But I have a feeling that info was not all there. And that he was on a dedicated or something.

Pay is ok, Home time is ok and better than many.
We have allot of freight in FL. From end to end.
I have made more money a year at my last 2 company's than here. I will admit that.
They are not for everyone. But if you are ok with around 2200 miles a week and pretty good mileage pay, then they are not too bad.
But they do not pay anything else.
No detention. No layover. Etc.
I have only been detained for more than 24 hours once. And actually I got 50 bucks that time. But it does not happen often. I have never waited more than 2 hours for a load.

fallinangel Thanks this.

They run a tight ship. Been here for a few weeks and I feel there's more - then +... Home time is NOT two days its more like 36 or so. Kind of you do me a favor and Ill do you a favor kinda deal. Been hearing that saying from a lot of DMs. So far I've been getting 2100. This week is maybe less.

Trucks don't idle between 52 - 72. More idle time you the slower your rig will go. The lowest is 59-60.
For SE Region with 1 yr exp you get .37 + .01 towards your safety bonus.
Days out won't add to your time off. So if your out for 3-7 weeks you still get 2 days off.
No stop off pay.
No short run pay.
No orientation pay. You get a room and breakfast/lunch.
Was told to make real money but you need to be out of your region.
A lot of short runs. Like 325 here, 486 there, 158 and so on. But they do add up.
Been sleeping on a mattress which all I feel are the springs. Neither shop has any in stock nor do they have any windshield wipers.
Bad advertisement on there flyers. SE Region doesn't make what they say they do. Which it states 57k per yr.
You pay outta pocket for tolls. You will only get remburst for the tolls that they cover.
They charge you 3.00 for using your comdata card. Each time you take $$$$ out on it there's a 3.00 charge.
NO Power inverters!!!
NO COOKING EQUIPMENT!!! If you are caught with these type of items your FIRED!!!!!!!!!!
The Medical is REALLY REALLY bad.... 92.36 per week for Medical and Dental...

I've probably missed out a few things but *shrugs* it is what it is.

They are a short to med haul company. 90% of the freight is less than 600 miles.
I never take money out on my comdata card. So I did not know that. Pay goes in Thursday night.
My mattress is the same way. And it was new. Just cheap mattresses.
I cannot see 57 a year. Unless you are in the top pay scale, and you get really good planning.
I am in OH region. So I have a ezpass. If you start running up in the northeast allot I would ask for one in one of the NE region terminals.
I am always home for at least 34. But I normally get home Saturday morning and leave out Monday morning.
They do stop pay for multi stop trips. You get 15 bucks for each extra stop. Sears and petsmart are big for this in my region.
Some have 5 stops. It will only be a 250 mile day or so though. And take up your full 14 hours to get it done.
medical is the worst plan I have ever seen. I posted that at some point in here.
My wife will be going to work full time again soon I hope. So I can get on her insurance.

sarookie Thanks this.
