Ok, the chances of winning the lottery are higher then the chances of getting caught for running more then 4 watts on 11 meter(cb).

Why is this???? Because the FCC doesn't really give a rats behind unless the high powered station is causing problems.

As far as people getting their ham ticket, well most of them don't want one or don't need one since a ham ticket doesn't change what you can do on 11 meter (cb band). It doesn't change the power limits etc.

Alot of us don't care about the other radio options afforded by the ham ticket because we are truck drivers and the majority don't run anything other then a CB radio in their truck.

I have heard some guys think that getting a ham ticket, will allow them to run the converted 10 meter radios. Not true.

As for me, a ham ticket would not do anything for me. Why???? Because it does not allow me to do what I want to do. Which is have one radio that does everything and has more then 4 watts for 11 meter use.

    Tackle box,
Please heed my advice: Do not have your radio cut up to do magic power. Find a shop that doesn't remove the limiters in the radio, have them set radio for 1.75w carrier. With that and standard tuning radio should peak 20w with audio limitation still in tact (meaning your voice is clear not raspy/distorted). Then you can add a small amp (kl60) which will give you a solid 15w key and 50w+ talk power without ruining your radio. Radio and amp together pull maybe 8a of current, amp is a little bigger than a pack of smokes.
