The A1 series were a Ford LT cab assembly. The A2's were supposedly based on a cabover (I've heard Freightliner but more believably a copy of an older White).

The A1 wasn't too bad to drive, other than getting that *#!! unassisted hood open. The A2 was a total beach in all respects. Most uncomfortable truck I ever drove.

    Now I understand crusty ancient...j/k

I remember the sexiest lookin truck I eer saw..was an early restored KW..not sure exact year but the fenders looked like a big version of fender off a 32 deuce coupe (not fiberglass..steel)

guy ahd restored it..dropped suspension..texas bumper..was two tone..grey cab..charcoal grey fenders..shaved door handles..slammed, chromed, and stretched..no sleeper..guy ran local runs..still had the two stick elbow slammer trans but man that thing would pull and move..he'd hook that arm through the wheel to hold her straight and work that trans and that baby would leave a modern truck behind..

then he showed me why and my jaw dropped..V8 Cat...I said nice truck..he said..nice fuel bill too..LOL

    hear hear...

    There's drivin..then there's drivin in style..

Just like theres a difference between a yukon and an esalade..they both do the job..but the escalade rides so much nicer

Cab-over trucks have scared and repulsed me since I was a wee little girl, and I haven't a reasonable explanation as to why. I probably wouldn't even walk next to one at a truck stop, that's how much they bother me. Strange and stupid, I know. I'm just grateful they're no longer around, for the most part.

and cadillac tunes the shocks, springs, sway arms, toe and camber...which changes the ride..

I challenge you to ride in a new yukon..then turn right around and ride in a new escalade on the same route..you will notice a difference

I love a cab-over, haven't driven one in years. Ready to find one that someone will let me drive.
