LOL..if you had to drive one and back it into a tight spot you would realize why people miss their cabovers..was almost like driving a yard mule...they could crank a trailer into just about anywhere..so well in fact it would make a long nosed pete driver jealous..a volvo can hook a trailer in pretty tight..but a cabover can make a volvo look silly....the reason is that a cab over like a yard mule could very quickly get back under the trailer...My uncle had a cab over pete..as did my grandpa..only pain about it was crawling over the doghouse to get into the sleeper..LOL

I liked the dog house. Made the sleeper feel like my man cave. Crawling out was fun as well. Felt like the sleeper was giving birth to you.
SuperLiner Thanks this. -
I have no doubt cab-overs are the bees knees, but they still skeeve me out. Should whatever company I get on with make me drive one, I'd get over myself and do it. I'm not quite so skeeved to where I'd be a prime daytime talk show guest for strange phobias, but I still don't like them. They're mean and wrong looking.
-
That's why I like them. They mean and meaner when done up. Looks like its gonna mess you up if you look at it wrong.
WrOng looking. I dunno. It's an acquired taste.Female Driver and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Well newby, you may think 379 petes are ugly but try to back one in at a pilot truckstop after dark, looks won't be the only objection you have. Good luck and keep on truckin, please.

I think in 6 years I've been in some pretty tight spots..and when I had my pete yeah..I worried about the fenders in some places...its all about thinking things through and GOAL..I wasn't ashamed to hop out and look things over...
Lots can be done to help in a tight spot..tandems can be moved..fifth wheels..and one little trick my first instructor taught me....its not easy on the trailer, but in a pinch it gets the job done..unlock the trailer tandems so the trailer will pivot and slide at the same time while applyin the charlie brake..I didn't like doin it but every now and then it was the only way of gettin in the door no matter what truck I was driving..its only a last resort but you gotta do what you gotta do..

Try that with a stationary spread. Lol.
Worst case scenerio is unhooking from trailer and backing under it on a different angle. Different strokes for different folks. This will be a never ending debat just like the thread last post wins #34.
Their all best trucks. That's why they make them. Theirs demand for all of them. The ones that sucked or wernt in to much demand are the ones that aren't here today. Just have to go to a yard find what you like and restore it if that's what you liked or import it from some were over sea. -
Brand new trucks..anybody seen the International Lone star? they tried to go a little retro and I'm just not sure if it worked or not..LOL
I've been looking at a picture of one ff and on all day and can't quite decide if I like it or not..it just looks....freaky...reminds me of part of a shark jaw on its side...and it eats wallets.....lmao
Also noticed that volvo isn't advertising the 880 series on their website any more..
KW is still listing the W900
course the 389 Pete is still just sechsy despite the bigger grille..
If I were to buy another truck though...
probably be a 386 and for aero reasons the stacks would be behind the sleeper...reason would simply be cot of fuel..when the 386s first came out they were popping 7 mpg all day on the flats...I'd still get the super nice ride and sleeper..just the aerodynamics of the front end..

Those Alberts in my opinion are very ugly not like Franks or Hermans who are more modern looking and not so square. I think also Bob's are OK but there are too many maybe you think Bob's are OK but I'm not sure that Bob's are old or new....

lol, kenworths and peterbilts are how babies are made. I love the look
