well i run a generator so im good... Food would be a good idea...charging $20 is a Bad Idea...you would make more charging 5 bucks then 20...charging 20 bucks to drivers who are making 32 cents a mile is like trying to pull fangs out of a spitting cobra..

I'd pay $20 if my spot included a home cooked meal, hot shower, and a pretty little blonde to bring me my meal and wash my back. :biggrin_25522:

you can stay in a hotel, for a little more and have a cleaner shower and much less noise,i would find it hard to pay 20.00 for a night just to park and sleep in my truck

10$ at a truck stop if you do not buy fuel is asking for alot...
But with no restrooms or showers...might as well park on the side of the road, or a shopping center....
$20 to get a/c power and maybe cable is way overpriced....most trucks only have plugs for block heaters...so if you are in the truck, the ac power does not help 90% of the drivers run heat or airconditioning....
A diner with a restroom or a convinence store might get away with a $5 fee or spend 15$ or something to park.....still be a tuff sell though...

The lack of restrooms means your parking area would quickly stink, and be filled with little bags of er....you get the pic...could you charge anybody $$to park in the middle of an unhealthy, stinky spot?!

I think you kind of have to be in the middle of this to understand the need that exists in some of these rural communities. It truly is a mad house. Truckers are getting kicked off streets and out of parking lots by law enforcement. $20 probably is too steep but land is expensive and has been inflated due to the boom so trying to minimize risk while the going is good. It will bust just a matter of when...and how long it will take for truck stop builders build. Already a huge Loves I believe going in Wiliston.

Thanks for your responses. I already new what the truckers around here want but wanted others perspective.

Thats why there is such a thing as trip planning. Every place you go is not going to have truck parking anywhere close by, so plan your stop accordingly. Just because you can legally drive 11 hours doesn't mean it is mandatory.

We are trying to come up with a reasonable price to offer truckers for a place to park overnight with electricity in Blaisdell (10 miles East of Stanley) off the 2.

We are building a commercial services/truck parking area and want to meet the needs of local truckers for a reasonable exchange for a nightly stay to pay us pay for the infrastructure costs.

We were going to include mini-mart, grab-n-go food (sandwiches and burritos), showers, coin-op laundromat and a sitting area. Would love to get more feedback or examples of what works (and what it costs).
