How long on average do you stay on the weekend runs? Saturdays aren't a problem but I enjoy my church time on Sundays. Do you know how the drivers get assigned the loads? Is it first come first serve or do they have a dispatcher? Also what would a driver get paid for a run to boone or one of the farthest places? (estimate is fine). Sorry for asking all these questions but I just wanna make sure I know what I'm getting into. This would be my first tanker job

I worked with one of the dispatchers in the 90's at another gas company and he is a great guy, very fair. The bad thing about gas is, it's a 24/7 operation. Holidays are just another day (get paid extra) but you still work, unless you schedule to have it off (including Christmas) Of course since it's paid by the load, the faster you are the more you make so it's a hussle all the time job. It's the same story at all of them. Wilco drivers make more money but, they still work weekends and 12hr shifts. Too many hands in the money jar in gas and it just doesn't trickle down to the driver. Personally, I think it should be one of the highest paying driving jobs around but, it's not

They gonna check to see if u can perform work related tasks. Such as walking up and down three steps for a minute straight. Then check your heart rate. Crawling under a table, do some squats, carry some weights across the room and stack on a high shelf. They just want to make sure you can do these things without difficulty. And also a range of motion test on your joints as a point of reference. So if you come back they know what measurement you started with.

Thanks blue for the heads up,I have no problem doing all that and more I'm sure but I'm a little worried on account of being a larger mammal but still have no problem getting the job done.... and I am assuming if your heatrate is 2 high they show u the door is that right? Have heard other companies that have said and done that and it is posted on the report (whether it true or not who really knows) now I have a great job work for a great company outa knoxville tn where I live. Make great money have great benny's blah, blah, blah, I've been here for over a year but its looking like its gonna be a while before something local opens up at my terminal so the downside is is getting home usually on weekends, and just poking around and tryn to see if gas hauling would be a good fit, wife and kids and myself wouldn't mind seeing me on a daily basis lol thanks for any info u can share, I have heard lot of positve things about eagle and already have all endorsements on lic. Except no twic yet thanks again and stay safe out here...

I worked in Nashville for Eagle. After training I had to go on nights and work every weekend. After a few months due to the turn over I got on days. Still had to work every week end.

I know Crete runs day cabs out your way. They do the Bush beans account.

I havent heard of anyone failing that test here at the terminal I work at. And we have several large individuals! I'm not exactly small either. 6' 3" 250. I was 275 when I got hired almost 2 years ago.

I feel you on wanting to be home daily for the family's sake. I like working at Eagle so far. I wish I had every weekend off though. Thats my only knock about this terminal. Most of us work 6 on 2 off rotation. Some guys only work 5 on 2 off. We have a couple that have every weekend off or every thur or fri off. Our terminal manager is easy to work with, so getting time off to do family things or personal things is no problem.

To find a local job go to indeed. com and put a search in for 100mi. from your zip code. Have it sent to your email daily. That what I did. Also watch craigslist.
