I dont Care what speed someones truck is what bothers me is the morons that get in the center lane and block traffic for 5 miles trying to pass another truck to gain .5 mph
Or on a four lane you get a gang of slow trucks that back traffic up for miles on a 70 mph road
They should start enforcing the impeding the flow of traffic law alot of places are working on. and give ticketsxFreeWord420x Thanks this. -

Now that is something I think we all can agree with. I generally run in the 60-62 range all the time. No issues. Everyone can pass if they choose to. But when it comes time that I need to pass, I put a wiggle in it and get on around instead of sitting out there in the left lane looking like a fool. Then when I get back to the right lane, I go back to what I was doing.
For those company idiots that just run on the governor, it isn't that big of a deal and not going to cost any real time by just slowing down a notch or two instead of sitting out in the left lane for 15 miles having a turtle race with another company truck. Now that is stupid. The one in the right lane can slow a notch or two and let the other guy around so he is not impeding traffic, or the one wanting to pass can slow a notch or two and deal with it. If you don't like doing it that way, then buy your own truck and pay the bills and then you can go as fast as your heart desires. You gripes fall on deaf ears if you are driving another man's truck and have no skin in the game. He who pays the bills, makes the rules.bbechtel16 Thanks this. -
i have driven a slow truck in the past...and amazingly enough, i lived to talk about it...LOL, driving a fast truck most of my career, it is a big adjustment....you have to drive different SO YOU DONT hold up traffic....i didnt jump out in front of a big truck "comin on strong" even IF THAT MEANT i hit my brakes.....i didnt even jump out in front of 4 wheelers, if i could help it. you catch someone with your cruise set, then they dont want you around them....amazing....oh well, hit the brakes and get back in behind...IT IS VERY annoying...but i wasnt gonna drag race for 20 miles.....or the ones that JUST HAVE TO PASS you...only to slow back down, but i didnt have enough to get back around. its a WHOLE diff ballgame driving a slow truck....one that i never want to play again!!!

The best is the idiot truck driver on the cell phone, doing 55 in a 65, and then when you go to pass him, he realizes and speeds up, so now you have to slow down and get behind him again.. really, really makes me mad.

On a 3000 mile week the difference between 6.3 - 6.5 going roughly 67-70 mph and the guy going 55-60 mph getting 7.5-8.0 mph is allot of money
Here's the math
3000 \ 6.5 = 461.5 gal( round to 462)
3000 / 8.0 = 375.0 gal
462-375 = 82.0 gals
82.0 x 4.15 ( avg) = 340.00 saved
340 / 6 days avg week = 56.60 ( per day )
So by reducing 7-8 mph in some cases 10-11 you can pocket up to
56.00 a day in profits that are CONTROLABLE ...
In trucking there are few controlables your biggest 2
1. Fuel consumption
2. Tire wear ( proper inflation / rotation / alignments )
At 340.00 a week that's over 1200 a month
340.0 x 4 ( weeks) = 1360.00
Now I ask you this ...
How much is your truck payment ?
Is it worth slowing down ?
You decide !!!!BigKid2 Thanks this.
