Question about Garment Choices for Truckers

Drivers usually wear inside the truck whatever they would in their house. Since of course, most drivers live in their trucks. In the summer I like to wear gym shorts and a tank in the truck, but because im a flatbedder, i must have pants and sleeves. I like the work coveralls but they are difficult to dawn in the cab of a truck. Not to mention how hot they are in the summer.

My 2.5yr old has a shirt with the face of a pete silk screened in white on a bright green t. He loves it. The suggestion of dark colors is a good one. Maybe like suggested above, you can do abstract silk screens of rigs. But do a good variety because not everyone drives a pete.

Edit: Did I say tank? I meant sleeveless. I wear them all summer.

 

I like a pocket t-shirt now so that I can put my load notebook into it.

Like a heavy long-sleeve T-shirt for winter, heavy short sleeve for late spring, early fall and a light weight wicking t-shirt for summer months.

In this racket, neutral greys or dark colors that cover sweat stains/dirt are more an option for me.

Now....

How many drivers here would wear a pink shirt....

Well how about unicorns and rainbows.
Lollipops and hearts.
Pink triangles and two circles with arrows stabbing each other.

Use of company logos means paying them for each one produced.

Ever notice the trucks that look like a..whatever...but have different something to avoid a flat out copy?

A Pete with the wrong headlights, a kw with odd shaped windows.. All to avoid payment

 

or become a licensed authorized dealer for their logos....Good Point Pony ya brought up...

 

Drivers are just like the general public in the fact that we all like different things. As an example, there is just NO WAY that I would wear a "wife beater." But that is just me.

At one point you said something about the trucks having heat and ac. Most of them do, and that is where drivers spend the majority of their time. But they also have times when they are in that trailer actually handling freight. (Of course there are a FEW who don't have to do anything with the freight, but they are by far the minority.

So my point is, that the shirts need to be light weight enough to be comfortable, and yet tough enough to stand up to being repeatedly rubbed up against freight that is being handled. Also, made of a fabric that will not stretch out of shape when the driver is sweating a bit. There is little that I hate worse in a shirt than to have it fit when I start out in the morning, but by mid afternoon, it is all stretched out of shape with the neck looking more like a tank top than a t shirt. You can buy these really cheap crap T's at Wallyworld that look good for the first ten minutes you wear them, then might as well be thrown in the trash.

Also, speaking of the type of material, I've had T's that seemed to be a magnet for dirt and grease, and others that seem to sort of shed it. I don't know enough about fabric to know what is what, and I've been very disgusted with some of the shirts I have picked up.

I'll spend a bit more for a quality t shirt. It's cheaper in the long run that the discount ones.

And the pocket that has been mentioned is a real necessity for most of us. Even if we don't smoke, we often need to carry a pen and notepad in the pocket.

 

Neutral to dark colors. Something that is cool and not polyester. A pocket to hold a pen and sizes bigger than large in the 3 and 4x range. Let us know where they are being sold!

 

YEAH, but make it long enough so when ya bend over ya don't freak people out with the crack showin!

One or 2 nice long sleeve T's for winter too.

 

Exactly what I was thinking my wife breaks my stones of there's a hint of plumbers crack going on. So basically you need to make the shirts longer in the back. And preshrunk so they don't. Nothing like buying an xl then wash it and it's now a large.

 

And solid colors no dumb designs like a truck pulling trailer through a mountain pass with a stream running along side it. I see those Ts all the time in the truckstops and it looks like no one buys them.
