I've heard somewhere that cellphone towers might be killing off the bees with their radiation, but that's just speculation. I know this one thing. It's probably something we're doing that's killing them off, and if they all died, we're screwed. And the ignorance of some people is really something. When Natural Geographic did an article about the plight of polar bears because they're losing the ice they need to hunt, one reader quipped, "One species. It's trivial." What a moron. We're one species too.

We need them to pollenate but I'll happily share my bees with everyone:biggrin_25523: I know we have more then enough to go around. The scary thing is the africanized bees spreading. They are so much more aggressive than honey bees. You can start up a mower, etc and if they're close by, they'll attack it and anyone on it.

Funny that this topic came up.
Just this morning, I found a swarm of wasps clinging to a brass wind-chime, and they have scouts flying around.

When I go out to watch them -- standing about 6 to 8 feet away, they dispatch others to act like interceptors.

A lot of new construction going on in the area. I wonder if a hive or nest got bulldozed and they're seeking another place to call home?

I think it depends on which news channel you watch.

I heard the BEES have a VIRUS and scientists found a way to treat it or were on the right path to treating it...sigh

I'll invite them over here to help our bees lol. Maybe they'll cull the african ones out. Nothing ruins a good days work outside like a swarm of yellow jackets! Hot dry days bring them out, more bees seem to hit just any day.

The bees really don't bother me as much as long as they aren't the aggressive ones. When those wasps swarm, you have to walk out the door waving your hand in front of your face, they don't seem to be good at watching where they're going.
