My husband just bought a Volvo 780 from there 2 weeks ago, and he had quite a hard time finding temporary insurance because he has just shy under 2 years of trucking under his belt. Finally, Truck Writers took him on for a week for a pretty penny.

Also for the dyno - I would suggest you take it somewhere other than the Omaha Truck Center that they suggest, the closest one to the place actually. Drive the extra couple hundred miles if you need to. My husband got his dyno & inspection done there, then he got his inspection done at the company he is leased on to, and they found loads of problems that Omaha didn't. LMT mechanic told my husband that they have done business w/ Omaha for 6 years and that the guy from Omaha called LMT before husband even made it back to LMT to report problems found, said my husband was trying to get LMT to pay for every little nickel & dime issue found wrong and there was "no reason why they would lie to us after 6 years."

That being said, he is happy with his purchase overall and with LMT. Good luck

Well, like I said in an earlier post, they found me a t600 in Tifton GA. So now I am looking for a shop near Tifton. Secured the truck yesterday. They just got it in and saying it will be a week till ready. Is that normal?

The dealer has insurance that covers their inventory when on a test drive or when driven for other purposes by customers or dealer employees.

If they say you need insurance find another dealer. I sold medium and heavy trucks for six years... we NEVER asked a customer to provide any insurance.

I have always thought that it was strange that they require that. I think it is just because they don't really want you test driving it and taking the truck to get looked at. I know when I did a few test drives at Kenworth in Terre Haute they did not require it.

Arrow truck sales does not require it either ...
If its their policy to me it's a weird one ... Or it's for a reason like others were saying as far as not wanting you to check it out or test drive it or find every thing that could be wrong.

    But I'm outside looking in

they require insurance before you take the truck home, if you take it locally for the dot , dyno. they have temp tags and ride along with you on demo rides.

but when you drive home rember they have the truck financed, and insurance has to be in place to cover it on the drive home, this is no different when you buy a new car.

and the collison insurance requires gap insurance, i have already posted that. i have one of the blue t600 you are looking at. I HAVE bought a truck from them and i know the deal at tifton. i am not guessing or supposing.

the easiest way is to use true north co. and ya wont have a problem. will run you about 156 a month including the gap ins. about 200 dollars down and set up a bank deduction there after. bobtaile is about 30 thru them.

    is that clear enough?

What he said ^^. They didn't require insurance to get the truck looked at or for test drives, only to drive it home, or in this case straight to the company he has leased on to.

And sorry original poster, I didn't realize you were leasing from Georgia as the title asks for Council Bluffs.:biggrin_25525:

thanks ms cowboy, there seems to be a lot of misinformation posted about their insurance requirements, glad someone else posted the correct version.
