Anyone know about this crazy Louisiana law?

  1. OK, I just got home and didn't see most of this when I posted from my iphone earlier. I'm going to have a beer, my wife and I are going to stop laughing, and I'm going to post about this one more time ONLY in this thread and then end the hijack. This is just too rich. We ought to start a "US Marshal Thread" to put an end to this myth.:biggrin_2559: :biggrin_25523:

I guess the Truck Driver Protection Division? Yeah, my wife hasn't heard of it, either, and neither has ANY of the Deputy Marshals she knows.

As opposed to all the Federal Scales?

So, if you call the USMS, they just COMPLETELY ignore any chain of command, jurisdiction, laws, or procedure and just fire a scale master? Have you ever heard of any law enforcement official who has the authority to fire anyone? No. You wanna know why? They can't. There are suspensions, investigations, arbitrations, etc in almost any law enforcement office before a firing. Even the people who work directly under my wife have a process that EVERYONE has to follow if she were to want to "fire" anyone. And NO, they do not have jurisdiction over all other law enforcement agencies as stated in one of your earlier posts. If there was a problem with a STATE official on a STATE scale, the STATE would be the ones to handle it.

Good for them, but what would that have to do with the US Marshals?

And apparently, they've all lied to you. Sorry.

You do know that? I've been driving for about 18 years and I've NEVER seen a deputy marshal at a scale. Anywhere. My Dad started driving in the '60's. He hasn't either. My Grandpa started in the '40's and retired in the late '80's. He's never seen a marshal at a scale. My wife has never heard of a Marshal being at a scale. As I said earlier, NOTHING in her training EVER involved anything like that. She doesn't know any Deputy Marshal who's ever heard of or known another Marshal to have anything to do with a scale, receiver/shipper, or missed crane appointments. Don't you think she, or someone she has worked with (in four different states, by the way) would've at least heard of anything like this????? I mean, not even the people who's retired from the USMS that we know have ever heard of this. Really, people have been feeding you crap.

Well, my wife isn't the most senior official in their office, but she's a long way from the bottom and she started in 1999. In ALL of that time, working in four different states, she's NEVER even heard a single one of these stories you're talking about because that's all they are STORIES, concocted by lying, myth spreading truck drivers. Not even at any of the USMS retirement parties we've been to. They DO have some crazy stories, but not a solitary one about a scale master.

So.....the Marshals have jurisdiction to arrest STATE DOT officials, close scales, fire STATE employees, but ONLY in certain areas of the country? Really? That makes TOTAL sense.:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

WOW. More stuff you know about the US Marshals Service, how their offices are run, what they do, and how they're structured that NOT ONE DEPUTY MARSHAL I KNOW (OR AM MARRIED TO:biggrin_25522:) KNOWS. That's amazing. The size of the office matters? Seriously? So, smaller offices are staffed by Deputy Marshals that have different jurisdiction, duties, and tasks? Again. Totally sensible and believable.

What's so funny is that I posted that I was MARRIED to someone who's worked for the USMS for over a decade and you started to basically tell my wife that you and experienced truckers know more about the USMS than she does.:biggrin_2559:

Even better is that I could be lying to you 110% and anyone could simply check the USMS website and STILL prove you wrong on everything you've posted about the USMS. Anyone who doesn't know ANYTHING about the USMS would still have to believe me over you after about 5 minutes of elementary school level research. I've given you the site. Check it out. Seriously, Dude, stop with the Marshal thing. While it's hilarious, and this thread has been sent to and laughed at by USMS offices in at least TWO different cities, and I'm sure the USMS now has soda pop on a few of their computers from laughing deputy marshals, it's simply not true.

Maybe you'd like to read the USMS's web site and see for yourself. It's easy to see that NOWHERE, ANY PLACE ON IT, is ANYTHING you, or any other trucker with a Marshal story can be validated.

OK, sorry about the hijack. I'll not do it again.

Lol . I know a scale master who is older lady who works the fannie wy poe . Ive asked about some the crazy settings for axles that some states say are legit. She said some ppl make up stuff or cite regs that have expired . Also she has heard of the marshalls detaining scale masters yrs ago. I like i said before not all ppl who work at marshalls service know of this happening much anymore. Its probably not seen or talked about much anymore. The older marshalls who have worked more the 20 yrs. probably know more about it. Anyways the drivers ive talked are old enough to retire .

  4. WOW. Just WOW. OK. I give. MY WIFE,
ALL of the deputy marshals my wife knows, two of whom have fathers who were deputy marshals going way way back don't know about the secret special scale enforcement operations team, or SSSEOT, for short.

Or, they're lying about it. They don't want truckers to know that they can come out and fire people. They probably don't want to deal with the paperwork or something.

Wanna know why it's not talked about? Never mind. You have already proven that you know more about the USMS than the USMS. Really, why are you driving with all this knowledge? You should be running the USMS, writing federal law enforcement policy, or advise truckers professionally about the protections offered to them by the USMS. Since NOT one Marshal seems to know about this, it seems as though you need to teach drivers how to let the USMS know how to do their job in case they have a run in on a scale and have to call one of these ignorant deputy marshals out to arrest, fire, or ?shoot? a scale master, because you obviously know more about it

Heck, maybe even put on a seminar for the USMS to teach these poor 13, 15, and 25 year newbie Deputy Marshals about policies, duties, and jurisdiction that the government apparently forgot to let them in on. I mean, they've never even heard these pearls of wisdom that your trucking friends know. It's amazing the incompetence in the USMS! They dont even understand their own jurisdictional requirements, duties, and organizational structure!

Think about it. It might be a nice career move for you.

Sure must be nice to know everything.

One LAST TIME. This is a myth. That's according to The USMS website, current Deputy Marshals, retired marshals (one who's now 81 :) ), THE LAW, and common sense.

My wife is walking around here in disbelief. As soon as I get up, she's chomping to send this link all over the #### country. How's it feel to be the butt of the joke by an entire Federal Agency????

Again, accept my apologies for the hijack. It won't happen again. There's no point in my posting about this in this thread any longer. It's obvious that you're oblivious to the truth. I guess you can always tell a trucker, you just can't tell him much.

Ok . Whatever works . But you do know the marshalls services jobs have changed a lot in past 50 yrs. they do more for other agencys than there own responsablilites. There primary is warrants, fugitives. But, have deal exculsively with WITSEC . They have there own HRT teams. Like i said before i dont where/when the incidents accured. Or someone misrep. Who exactually deals
    With state scales.

On bad scales just advoid em go around or
    Wait till closed.

  7. OK, I'm lying about hijacking. I really did intend on stopping. Really, I did. Just gonna see how far you're going to go and try to prove how much more you know about the USMS that current and past Marshals. I just can't help it. It's now just freaking hilarious. Maybe not to others, but my wife is actually crying she's laughing so hard. Obviously, it wouldn't be wise to post any info about us on a public forum given her job. That's why I don't have a location listed in my profile in the upper right hand corner. We sure do wish we could, though. I'd pay great money to be able to post the e-mail exchange that's going on right now.

Yeah, whatever works. Just go ahead and keep believing the USMS and those who work there and have retired from the Service when clearly an experienced road scholar is trying to tell you how it really works. :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559:

No, actually I don't. HOWEVER.....My wife, her boss who's about to retire with about 30 years experience and her two Marshal buds who followed in their fathers footsteps as Deputy Marshals seem to. I'm ignorant here. I'm just listening to these folks who carry badges and act like they know what their talking about.

    :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559:
OK, I'll let all the Deputy Marshals know (the ones who might not be peeing in their pants reading this thread) so they can get chore lists from other agencies. Funny, you'd think my wife would know what a slacker she's been doing her own work. Jeez!

    :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559:
You can read all about that here. http://www.usmarshals.gov/duties/index.html
    :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559:

Pssst. There's more on there, too. You really ought to read some of it. Maybe even before you post. The site map is helpful. Give her a whirl. Then maybe let us all know where all the mistakes are on the site. Thanks. :biggrin_25522::biggrin_25522:

I'm beginning to get a picture of where.......FANTASYLAND? Mr. Rogers neighborhood of make believe? The enchanted forrest? In somebody's imagination?

Or, (and here's a novel, unique idea) just try to do the job as right as you know how. It seems to work for me. I simply don't worry about scales, even the "bad" ones. Of course, I am married to a Deputy US Marshal. The DOT is most likely TERRIFIED of me. They know I could call in a full on onslaught of pain to shower down on them like a group of MOAB's and Bunker Busters on an Afghani mountain range. Hell, I'm gonna stop keeping a logbook and doing routine maintenance. What have I been thinking all these years?!?!? Thanks, Dude, for helping me see the err of my ways. I'm REALLY gonna rake in the dough now!! 900 mile days, no more waiting at shippers. this is gonna be awesome!

I'm going fishing now. My sides hurt, my wife is crying, and the email sounds like a hamster in a wheel. Oh, Lord. Help me.

Sorry Hammer, but it's nice and warm here, those little green fish are fat and biting, and my kayak and fishing gear seems to be calling my name, so I'm on my way to the lake as we speak (post)

Maybe 'Ol Yeller will catch another episode or two of Justified while I'm fishing, so he and Raylan Givens can educate us further on USMS history.
