Who's the best company for sponsored CDL Training ?

Then pick up the phone book and look up driving schools and find another local program.
If they are doing this through a local school, who's to say you the cannot jump in otherwise .

Owing the company that controls your paycheck and miles just screams bad news to me

 

Are you out of work?

Go talk to the unemployment office. Talk to them about career transition assistance. You paid the taxes for it, use it.

Talk to the schools anyway. They will likely be able to assist you to still get the "financing" you need to do this for less money and no committed to a company.

But without talking to them, you will not find out what they can do to help you.

These private schools, especially publicly funded tech colleges, have their own "admissions" folks who's job it is to fill those seats. They do that "contracting" with Steven's or else dealing with you directly. So it's to their benefit as well as yours to go talk to them and they can help you find a training plan, financing and job to get you going.

The SELF loan is a minnesota only program.

Texas has it's own stuff too. You will want to talk to the school about a CAL loan if you haven't already. Most student loans are "need" based. These aren't always "need" based programs for something like this.

Go talk to the financial aid director at the school. They have always done wonders for me.

Go directly to the director, or if the school is big enough, a financial aid rep.

There are both state and federal programs that are available that are not "need" or "Credit" based for paying for student needs for stuff like the CDL course.

All of the "need" based programs are based on the FAFSA and that's why you are "maxed out" for the semester.

The SELF loan is a Minnesota program and there are other federal and state programs available.

I have been to college 4 times, 88-89(3rd year auto), 91-92 & 98-00 (industrial Management) and 09-11 (land survey/civil engineering)

88-89 and 09-11 I used dislocated worker benefits to pay for that training.

91-91 & 98-00, I used student loans, GI Bill and grants.

 

The "education" business is a big business. So long as you haven't "defaulted" on a student loan, there are financing options available.
