Truckers Annual Income

Location location location, west coast east coast. I think the average is 50k, I would not work 60-70 hrs a week for less then that. If your record is good and have good relationship with previous employers, I cant see why you could not make that or more. Dont forget when your getting interviewed, you can make any deal with them you want to. Just because they state you can make that, does not mean you cant set up another deal.
I have 10 years exp, and my record is so so, but Im a hard worker and arrive on time with a smile on my face .

 

I don't understand. You state that you have been driving commercially for 15 years, but want to know if you can make $50,000 your first year driving. Do you have a CDL A? Does your experience involved driving 18 wheelers? Someone just out of school can expect to earn $30-35,000 their first year on average. Those with experience can make more. If you get into a specialized are starting out then you may do better. It is very rare for any new driver to make $50,000 their first year. I am not saying that it can't happen, but it is very rare.

 

Get a job in LTL and you could possibly make $70k your first year.

And yes, many LTL companies, contrary to popular belief, DO HIRE ROOKIES!!!!!!!

 

Hell when I use to live in Michigan driving gravel trains we got paid $16.25/hr and time and a half after forty and we would work from 4am to 6 or 7pm M-F and 5am to around 1pm on Sat and paid a ton of taxes but still brought home good money for the 90's but you didn't feel like doing crap the rest of Saturday or Sunday and come end of Oct or early Nov you ususally got laid off till late March or April but would work all winter if we had a lot of snow and good salt contracts. The city of Detroit has a huge salt mine underneath it that many people don't know.

 

I'm on track to do just that @ covenant.

1st month: $2000 ($450/week + $0.01/truck mile @5500/week)
2nd month: $4200 ($0.19/truck mile @ 5500/week)
3rd month: $4200
4th month: $4200
5th month: $4600 ($0.21/truck mile @5500)
6th month: $4600

If I make $4600 for my 7th-12th months, that'll be $51,400 for the first year (counting 1cpm safety bonuses, but not counting $1400 in tuition repayment & other misc bonuses). I work my ### off, put up with teaming, and only average ~2 days hometime/month -- but its very doable especially for an unattached young guy with some work ethic

 

Watch for burn-out, friend. Put the dollars into perspective.

In answer to the OP's question..If you do,let me know huh? I have been pulling flat for 8 years;and if I PUSH it,with a MILD Winter,I can GROSS $60-65000 a year..Maybe..

 

you drive the city and have a class A. I would stay, the bennies are by far better than a trucking companies.
My wife works for the city here,we use her benefits. cheaper and way better. when you start getting older benefits are more important.
