I did not say that everything written counts, It only counts once. As it states in the SMS Methodology-
"In cases of multiple counts of the same violation, the CSMS only uses the cited violation once. " and it is the same for the DSMS. I can take the time to type every single light thats out on your truck, but its still going to only count once. Im not sure how long ago you are refering to, Im refering to the points in CSA. Google SMS Methodology find the Jan 2012. I could be bitter and take the one worse truck driver/human being I have ever met and compare every driver to him and make all of them build their own way up to get any amount of respect from me, but I wont. That would be a very long, quiet, inspection and I would go home in a really bad mood. Probally kinda like you are when or if you ever have to go near Ohio. I would have missed out on some really good conversations too. When a driver who expects the worst, meets the inspector who expects the worst thats when log books fly. Its much less stressful to give them the benefit of the doubt, and allow them to build on that or dig a hole. Which ever they choose, not the driver I met before them as you seem to do with Ohio.

The rules and regulations governing trucking today are more intended as a revenue source than they are a actual enforcement tool. It hasn't been about safety in many many years.

You boys dont really think that the new paperless logs are intended solely for safety reasons do you?

dragonfly, if you by any chance work out of the jackson, ohio office i may have you at an inspection on us52 underneath the greenup bridge.

the ohio officer in that inspection was a nice guy, i had my log book current( on the laptop with eclipse logs, had all my paperwok in alphabetical order in a notebook in the drivers door pocket.

i had everything in order and professional looking, he was the same way. just a guy doing his job.

had a nice conversation with him, neither one of us was out to get the other, just two guys doing their job.

i think its all in the attitude, if you have a bad attitude to begin with everyone is going to have a bad attitude.

and dragonnfly, the driver may not have any fuel receipts, many companies no longer require the driver to turn in a copy as they get a copy electronically from the fuel card company. and i dont keep food receipts either, as i just take the 59 dollar a day deduction.

i have been checked 3 times this year, no violations, no problems. i always have my log book current, it is the easiest thing to do. i amzed how when someone is caught for their log book not being current they blame everyone but themselves, lol.

and revelation being checked with a one-ton pickup is just part of the deal, you have to understand the greastest violators are one-ton pickups pulling trailers, you just happen to be in a high risk group.

same as a log truck in south ga, you are gonna get checked before anyone else. heck jesus would get inspected pulling a log trailer in south ga
