Pam does 3 week orientations now. They bus you out and put you in a hotel, you get Breakfast and lunch on them. You also get $25 a day for Monday-Thursday and $200 on Friday.
On Friday they put you with your Driver Trainer for 2 weeks, you get $300 a week while your with your trainer. If your not ready they can keep you with your trainer longer.
With no driving experience you will be required to go to School first and you will have to sign a 1 year contract with the company and your first 6 months you must do Team driving.
As for mileage, 2500 Solo, 4500 Team, and 5000 if your Team with HazMat. -
Just to addendum Twisted's post, the 6 months team driving is required only if they can find a suitable co-driver within 50 miles of you.
Straight out of school you'll make $.25/mile solo or $.175/mile team. Miles really depend on you. Are you willing to run, then they'll run you. Sometimes you might have to get on your DM's ###, but I haven't ran into that much. I'm not sure how team pay increases work, never did team, but your first year solo you'll get a penny increase every 3 months your first year, then half a cent every 6 months after. -
They changed it to 100 miles for teams, you can also pick someone from your class if you want
-
only have to sign a contract if you go to C-1. I was an outside student, no contract no team requirement, but thats been a while back things may have changed
-
that hasn't changed -
You can basically make the same money flipping burgers in 40 hours what you will make solo with PAM. At least go with Swift or someone that will give you 32 cents to start with. PAM is a rip off........and yes, I am finishing my year with PAM soon.
-
Newbie here and about to attend PAM Training.
I understand the difference in mileage but is it truly worth it at Swift?
Please Elaborate?

Assuming you get both a decent truck and dm... and are willing ... it will be close to 2500.
If you have problems with any of the above low end is around 1600. Or atleast that is my experience.
As for new incomming pay I dont't know. -
I'm running team with PAM and getting 4900-6500 mile weeks. Most weeks are around the 6000+ mile range. One thing we figured out is that if you dont **** around, make your appointments on time and DON'T RUN OUT OF HOURS....they will keep you running.
I've only been in my(our) truck for 5 weeks (newbie fresh outta school)...and have upgraded from an '08 Cascadia with 650,000 to a new 2012.
It's all what YOU make of it. I came in knowing I'm green and knowing I'm getting ****ed . ....but overall, right now, I'm pretty happy, and my bills are getting paid.
oh....new drivers get 25 cpm solo and 17.5 cpm teamSkydivedavec Thanks this.
