    I wanted to revisit this one.

    Duck, I think your biggest issue is your choice in friends. Not careers.

    I count Doctors, Lawyers, Politicians, Plumbers, Seamstress, and even Grocery sackers among my friends.

    NONE of them have ever said anything negative about my job. Other than to ask how I can drive that many miles a week without my ### going numb.

    You and me both!!

    I'm very proud to be a professional trucker/driver!! I've worked my butt off to get where I'm at today and making a great living. I'm very fortunate to be driving for a fantastic company.

    I tell everybody straight up that I'm a truck driver. While others will call themselves "transportation specialist", "transportation facilitator", and I've even heard "commodities engineer".

    Just tell the ladies that you are a "Transportation, operations coordinator" AKA a slick fancy name for a Truck Driver!

    Of course not! I am proud of the job I do and I don't give a rat's rear end about what other people think about it. You know, it's only when YOU don't like and don't feel comfortable about what YOU do, that you feel embarrassed and let what others think to influence you. I used to feel EXTREMELY embarrassed when I had my own cleaning business. My job was to clean residences. I HATED!!! I lied about that many times. I didn't care that people said it was an honest, decent job. I HATED! So, what I tell you is, go find something that you REALLY like and you will not care what others think. And try not to spend much time searching for it. Life is short. Good luck. :biggrin_25519:

    This job has helped me stay sane, I love seeing new places and it's a stress free job apart from the dms and planners. It's gotten me out of debt, met some really cool people and my family (some are millionaires find it fascinating )

    So no, not embarrassed, I've had some very good office jobs but always wanted to do this. Even if I do it for a short time I won't regret it.

    Duck you remind me of how I was a few years ago, driven by job titles and salary figures etc. no one really cares as you get older they only care about your character

    Well I started this thread, guess it was a rant, I had a date the other night with my dream girl (shes a model) we were just shooting the breeze and just talking about nothing, I show her my license and she asked if I drove a truck, but she asked in a such a disgusted way (she was trying to be nice but the look on her face couldnt lie). I was mortified and told her I did sales, yes I know im going to get the well u shouldnt be with someone like that speech.

    Do I believe all you guys take pride in your jobs? Yes otherwise you probably wouldnt be investing your time on a driver forum. How many accountants are on an accountants message board. I will say this, I am proud to share the road with you fine guys and gals

    I agree. Duck, go find something else to do while you are still young. Otherwise you will make your life miserable... truck driving is not for everybody or anybody. Why did you get a CDL? Why did you chose this job? :biggrin_25526: Maybe you need to become an accountant... Be happy.

    How much money were you making as a programmer?

    @chompi

    you must be joking with the 200k year after year? Exaggerating?

    How much were you earning? And could you outline the path to how to earn as much or more after a few years?
