So here's what happened, old guy that's been driving for me about 1 year is backing into a dock. Trailer on each side, short pullup, in other words a tight situation but we go in there 3-4 times a week. He gets too close to the blindside trailer and knocks the rear swing door off of my trailer[ $370 to put new hinges on it !!] In his haste to get out and I'm not sure do what, yep he pulls the trolley handle down and nothing else. You know the rest, he's standing back there scratching his ### wondering how this happened and the truck takes off on him. Before he could catch it[he never had a chance] it rolls into a dropped trailer parked crosswise in front of it. T600 now has modified aerodynamic hood on right side :biggrin_25513:. He more than likely will be dropped by my insurance, [ 2nd major incident in 9 months] and I'll probably be shopping for a used T600 hood. That or get to continue developing my fiberglass bodywork skills[ would be the 3rd truck I've worked on]. The kicker: He says I've never had the trolley handle come loose before !!!! I said than you were #### lucky all this time and you were overdue. I'm posting this in the newbie section hoping someone will read this and be spared this costly lesson !!!

Was there any damage to the blindside trailor?I have never used the trolley bar to park.I always thought that was there for decoration, lol.Actually the only time I use it is for moving those pesky tandems when I have to slam on the brks to get them to move.

3" long scrape where right side of trailer creased it. Minor thing for that place. :biggrin_25522:

So what was the first major accident and was it done by the same driver?I remember one time I was backing into a real tight dock in Kansas City on a busy street this dock is designed for local cabs not extended cabs and the cust agreed. So anyway I did end up losing the door and told my company id pay for it so his insurance didnt have to get involved.Never did make it in the dock by the way,The trailer door hit one of those yellow poles.I ended up taking ld to their warehouse then got door fixed just a few miles from there.

it makes me wonder where he learned to drive. the only time i ever use the trolley handle is after i have set my tandems, to be sure they have locked, and after a 10 hour break or anytime i have left the truck. i give the trailer the old tug test before pulling away. i have gotten to where i set the trailer brake then let the clutch out ever so little, to put pressure on the 5th wheel so no one can pull the release pin.

I seen it happen at the Love's exit 306 in Troy, TX. Driver used his trolley brake at the fuel isle and went inside. Few moments later, it drove itself across the frontage road, down a embankment, across the south bound I-35 and was stopped by the concrete median in the middle. Lucky for him, nobody got hurt or cause any accidents. Just a huge traffic backup........:biggrin_25513:
