Hey y'all; i was talking with an owner op and he said that he shows all his time not working as off duty and doesn't show sleeper time. Is this legal?
-
It may not be illegal to show sleeper time as line 1 off-duty, but it is more beneficial to show it as sleeper, you can use the split sleeper option to get your 10 hours off using one portion of time as 8 or more hours in the sleeper.steeler Thanks this. -
Make sure we r clear if u r taking a 10 hr consecutive break you can get that 10 hr break any of the 3 ways listed. 1) 10 hrs in the sleeper 2) 10 hrs off duty and 3) any combination of off duty/sleeper. To split break means taking 2 seperate bras one being 8 in the sleeper and the other a 2 hr brk buy splitting isn't that simple u must know how unless on e-logs . Off duty is only to be logged when u r away from the truck and able to pursue activities u want to pursue and sleeper is only to be logged when ur body is in the sleeper if u r working this is on duty not driving! I have a thread regarding logging the correct duty status if it's still around

Thanks for keeping us updated when you can.

I have been written up incorrectly , but at least I was able to clarify this issue for the boss. I have Eclipse log, not registered yet, but I use it for planning and auditing my own driving records, it has been simple to use and helpful.
The compliance review from a fed was what messed this up, that officer informed my boss, incorrectly, that split breaking must start with 8 hours on the sleeper, followed by 2 hours on lines 1 and/or 2. Either break may be first, and when used indefinitely, they switch positions, with the break immediately preceding the current break becoming the first break of the split. -
It still confuses me. If you only get the hours that were left to drive from the previous period, how would you have any left at the end of the second day?
-
Im hereing that as of may 17th that all local drivers will be required to keep a daily log, can someone please tell me if this is indeed true ? I have looked through the reg and cannot find any clear answers.
-
We log and are paid by the hour.
Some drivers are logging off duty time at stops. Several hours at a time. We are paid for these hours and have no letter releasing us from duty.
Is logging like this going to cause audit problems? -
You need to get updated on the off duty definition.Drivers may now log off duty in a nonmoving CMV.
