Overheard one driver telling another he was fined $500 for having bolt cutters in his truck. He was saying "they"(he never actually said what enforcement department ) told him he wasnt supposed to have them as he could use them to break a bolt seal? Anyone ever heard of this?

As for bolt cutters, I carried three different sizes the short time I ran van, plus two kinds of wire cutters. If a cop told me that, I'd beg him to start writing tickets. I'd have a field day in court.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
I am surprised he wasnt charged with potential rape since he carries the weapon in his pants too

It has to be a truckers tale or I never heard of it? Most receivers that are use to the aluminum bolt thing have bolt cutters.
Seals are for integrity and nothing else. -
I'd say its BS. I carry bolt cutters too, never know when you might need them.

The padlocks on my trailer sideboxes get pretty corroded pretty fast in the winter. If they have been locked a few days, bolt cutters are the only way to open them. So I carry bolt cutters. Never had any LEO's go through my tool box......and I carry extra padlocks. I wonder if they would be a 500 dollar fine too, because I could re-lock the box I unlocked with my bolt cutters.
