Schnieder drivers drive the schlumberger tractor trailers ( kinda like a flatbed with a bunch of equipment mounted on it) up to North Dakota from Texas. They get flown back to Houston. The schlumberger cdl driver/roustabouts will then drive their own rigs when they travel down the road to frac another well. The wells are owned by Hess, Conoco, Marathon, Whiting, etc, etc. These energy companies will never let an OTR company bid on picking up crude or salt water from a well site in the Bakken.
Schlumberger, Haliburton,Weatherford, Nabors, etc; are fracking and drilling companies. Their cdl driver/roustabouts drive like once per month (it takes about 28 days to finish the drill/frac). Schnider and Swift have drivin some of their equipment up to the Bakken.
Energy Independent? Please put down the kool aide. 85% of this new crude is shipped overseas. We are not drilling to be energy independent (why do folks keep spewing this fox news nonsense?). We are drilling to sell the crude on the global market. Some companies (like Marathon and Stat Oil) are capturing the natural gas and selling those by-products on the domestic market.
Trust me. No one who works in the Bakken is scared of hyena companies like schnider, swift, werner, jb hunt, etc.
I have 5 years off road/mountain/snow & ice/ chaining up 5 times per day tanker experience and 4 years outside the wire haulin in Iraq and I am GREEN compared to most folks haulin these tankers up here.
I admire your devotion to all this new stuff schnieder is learnin to you. In a couple of years you should come up here or work in the mines in Alaska, etc. You'll make 150K pretty easy if you can handle the 12-16 hour days.

Spewing Fox News nonsense? Hmm i must have missed that, i never heard say we are (America) drilling to be energy independent but that America could easily become energy independent if government would allow all acess to all sources of energy to be recovered.

You need to check your FACTS, Schlumberger actually approached Schneider and asked them to provide drivers for their equipment and I can ASSURE you they were not simply running stuff up from Texas and flying back home. I actually trained with some of these guys in Dallas. One guy had 27 YEARS OTR, another guy had 14 YEARS OTR and was a trainer in Green Bay for Schneider. Another guy had over 7 YEARS OTR and he was a trainer in Green Bay. Another guy had almost 20 YEARS OTR and he told me how he once moved an over-sized load for Boeing down to South Carolina from Washington State. I'm pretty sure a trucker from Green Bay has applied some chains a time or two, LOL!

I was told the account in ND was Schneider's highest paying account. These guys worked 3 week on and 1 week off so they could fly home to see family, not drive equipment back. They lived in a man camp and they had all expenses paid. One guy who had been up there in ND said he spent $70 the entire month and he smoked.

You should not assume just because someone works for Schneider they have no experience. The man who trained me on the Victoria account has 9 years OTR and almost 1 year here. My boss was an owner operator for 12 years before he came here. Another shift boss has 16 years OTR. Fact is people have figured out that OTR doesn't pay as well as these energy field jobs and they like going home each night.

"America could easily become energy independent" I like that, we should try to buy more of our own stuff. Why do we buy stuff from people who do not like us? Plus it would put our country back to work, we don't need hand outs just jobs.

Hello, You're still confusing oil companies and folks who drive tankers to well sites with drilling and fracking companies and their rig hands that happen to have a CDL. Schnider/Swift are bidding a rate, to provide rigging companys with drivers, that are soo out of the profit range (those hyenas will lose money just long enough to drive folks out of business so they can plunder market share) that the rigging companies can put these low paid OTR folk up in 3K per month man camps and still save money by getting their fairly paid rig hands off the clock when it comes time to move on (drive) to the next drill/frac site.

OTR means little in off road tanker driving. That is why you don't see too many OTR drivers hauling tankers from well sites. OTR drivers with much mountain/ snow/ ice type of tanker experience are in demand though.

" if government would allow all acess to all sources of energy to be recovered. "
    ???
We have so much global oversupply that oil companies actually have slowed down production when the barrell price went below 95. At the current 82 bucks per barrell the contractors are sitting around often in the past 3 weeks. Even as a company driver I have had a few 12 hour days in the past 2 weeks. Government is not in anyones way.

All i said was i didnt hear Fox News say we were energy independent, but that we could be if allowed to access all sources of energy, i never said just oil, and as far as government not in anybodys way, well with all due respect have to agree to disagree my friend, wich is why it makes America the greatest country because we can have our own opinions.

I was using oil up here in the Bakken as an example. The Bakken is all private land oil. No govt in the way. The initial cost to market is similar to Texas (55 bucks per barrel). Once the start up costs are recouped (5 years at 75 bucks per barrel) the cost to market is just north of 20 bucks. So even with a 60% gross on new wells (oil at 85 bucks) or a paid for well grossing at 400% (oil at 85 bucks) the oil companies slow down production to manipulate implied supply and demand (futures contracts).
Corporations (rightly so) do not factor patriotism in their business models. If you want energy independence the only route is via our representatives in our government.
