The boss has a 2000 long hood 379 with a 60 series in it, that he's talking about putting 8 inch straight stacks and elbows on. I can't remember ever hearing a 60 series with straights. They seem to be be fairly quiet motors to me, I just kinda hear a mellow whine when it's sitting around idling, and I have never drivin it or ran with it down the road. So I was wondering if any one has run them on a 60 series or heard them.

there not as loud as a cummins or cat, but i only know about the 6 inch straights. They do have a loud `hum' that will resinate inside the cab. I think that depends on the truck.

I knew a guy who put 8 inchers-no mufflers on his detroit, Those jakes were LOUD! I could hear him 4-5 miles away! But those detroits had good jakes. Atleast my '99 sure does.

i dont know about 6's or 8's....but let me advise against ever, ever running a 5" straight grass burner on a 12.7 detroit. i did it on my 99fld.one round trip from philly to boston and i took the time off to put a resonater on that bad boy.the best thing was using the jake noise as a weapon.cant tell how many 4wheelers i pissed off or gave heart failure/bleading ears to.you wanna hear the radio.....HA. not gonna happen.
