FFE is a far cry from being te best out fit to go with down there, Check with SNI(Schneider) and Haliburton and look around here there are others taking newbies and sending you thru there crash course and then train you in the oil fields. Good Luck.

Haliburton trains you to get your CDL?
I knew about Schneider, just forgot to mention them. Seems to me FFE and Schneider are the only two that will take you into their academy to get your CDL and then get you on the fields. -
Gisquid,
I have a year of OTR (not recent), and I went back for another 160 hr CDL course. I applied online about two months ago, originally and heard nothing back. I just got the offer. you have a PMSurfingTrucker Thanks this. -
JahB....sorry to hear abt SNI. Haliburton is a good company but don't they work you 20 hours in a 24 hour day....everyday? I may be stretching it but I've heard they do have you work long hours.
seawind Thanks this. -
Which, if any, companies besides FFE and Schneider have a CDL acquirement training program and will also get you on the fields right after graduation? -
Key Energy, for one. There aren't many that will train you to get your CDL, but I wouldn't be real anxious about getting immediately to the oilfield after you graduate the CDL school. There's more training after that, and that's a good thing.
AllieCat, not necessarily. It depends on which division, and on what you're doing. -
Key Energy offers CDL training in Victoria Texas. -

I'm in Baroid. Entry level.
TriMAC needs a year of experience. In SE Texas, they are hauling crude oil. I was specifically applying to haul crude in either Corpus Christi (where you have to live), or in Dilley, where they are (were) hiring for night crew, they have a man camp. They do a lot of other work elsewhere in TX and elsewhere; sand cans, cement, etc.. They are national and they have been expanding the contract held by their division in CO, and/or acquiring tanker companies in several other places,Last edited: Jul 9, 2012
