Yes, sir. We pushed around 1.5 billion gallons last year using our retail and wholesale locations. All of that was truck transported.

 

It depends on who you are going to work for. With our company we like to reward those who started with us and stayed with us. We feel that our pay is already hiring than most companies pay their 20 year drivers. Which ever company that you chose make sure that you have done your homework and know that you could retire with them if and when that day comes.

 

Well it's very nice of you to describe the job opportunities at Go Petro in Houston. However, the situation in San Antonio is apparently much different, FYI
A very good friend of mine just recently quit Go Petro, describing it as a total MESS. Drivers fighting over loads, dispatch non existent. Perhaps you should investigate these claims. He had enough and now works for a local crude hauler.
I too have had dealings with Susser and I'm well aware of their stock and size of their operations.
But it stands for nothing if you can't get any consistent allocation at the racks, especially for Exxon and Conoco/Phillips 66. It became somewhat of a nightmare and a constant frustration. You only have to ask Mission and Dupre drivers about the topic! Especially in the Austin area.
Of course your claim that you service the Stripes chain of stores is not entirely true. I worked for Dupre Logistics for a time and I regularly dropped fuel at Stripes in LLano and Marble Falls. Now I can only surmise that your SA arm was so disorganized that you had no alternative but to contract out some of your work. Maybe you are right and Houston is wonderful. Now you might want to focus on other areas, You can't afford to lose good drivers over poor management.

 

Allocations are a problem for all fuel companies. We can't control what the majors are sending down the pipe or how full the terminals keep their tanks. We strive to make sure that we have enough work for our company drivers and don't plan to haul every gallon. Therefore we contract out a percentage of our gallons to other carriers to make sure that we maintain some relationships with some key partners. We have grown our fleet in San Antonio from 7 to 9 trucks this year and are looking to add more next year. Thanks for the above info. I will check on it with my team.

FYI, we have only had one driver quit this year in San Antonio so I know who you are talking about. He went to the oil fields for 3 weeks ago and has now reapplied with us. Mark will start back with us as soon as we reprocess his DOT information. I hope that one day you might apply with us as well. You seem to know the business.

 

I need to make a correction. Mark read this post and let me know that he was not the person in question in the thread. I hate to say it, but all other drivers were terminated from GoPetro for crossdrop and contamination reasons. I don't think your friend was being totally truthful about the reason he no longer works for us.

 

What a coincidence! I was planning on seeking employment at Go Petro/Susser! A friend of mine's father used to work there! Now I have never hauled fuel,but he told me how much his father made.I won't mention any names but he has since terminated his employment at your company. But he did like it there,he was just tired of the night shift supposedly. Anyway, I am a soldier here in Fort Riley,Kansas, and I too will be seeking employment. I got my CDL in Germany,which doesn't mean a thing here in the states,so I am in the process of getting my CDL for the states. What are the odds of your company hiring a person with no tanker experience? Note, I have been driving trucks since 1995.

 

Well, Mr Wscott, besides the problems that my friend encountered at GoPetro and I have to say that he had no reason to lie to me about the working conditions, the other problem that was apparent with Susser was the allocation or lack of, VIRTUALLY EVERYDAY !!!! I personally have dealt with Susser for a number of years through FHR and had nothing but trouble with allocations especially with Exxon and Conoco, now Phillips 66. Constantly with incessant frustrations in abundance !!!
It was never an isolated incident but was a constant problem throughout. I never had such problems with Murphy's, HEB and other of the big consumers such as Costco. You might have the OCCASIONAL misstep with Valero, but was quickly remedied.
I have worked for Coastal and Mission and It came to a point where I would politely decline all loads via Susser and do something else.
Now I hear that Kenan, aka PCT are having the same issues I have experienced. So it's NOT true that ALL companies have allocation issues.
No, I'm afraid that Susser should receive the gold medal for that. !! And good luck if you want to work for them. If my friend has, indeed gone back to Susser, then I can only surmise that he's desperate. Sometimes people do some strange things. There are better opportunities out there.
