I'd like to address this post so the poster's ignorance wont poison other newbies. Yes I was fitted for a respirator during my orientation with Key Energy. Furthermore I have seen these masks in use on 3 different occasions during my short time in the patch. If all you do is haul water you might not encounter them. However if you're on location with a pulling unit in areas with a known H2S problem you probably will see them. On each occasion I didn't need to wear one because I didn't need to approach the well head. The rig crew had to wear them all day because the well was gassy and the H2S level was high.

So yes I do shave daily (the mask won't fit snugly if you have too much stubble). If your company doesn't fit you with a respirator I would ask them why not.

Most adult males would like to be in personal control of their facial hair choices, but on the other hand, most adults are also interested in both personal safety and keeping a job. I used to have a serious ZZTop beard going, part of my musical and biker "identity" but I um....well....realized my job and possibly being able to protect my life were more important than my vanity about my facial hair. How is this even a conversation among working adults?

    Sheesh. Kids.

Yup, will have to shave mine off (mine is not that long) if I ever make it into the patch. At this point it don't look like it till I set foot on Texas soil, but who knows, they may offer to pay my way. Lol

Thank you very much for your post. I'm a military member that is about to retire from the US Navy. Last year, my brother and I purchased two 130BB vacum trailers, and have tried tirelessly to get the trucks going but I feel lost.

I have served the military and that is the only thing I know, it seems to me that there are a lot of dishonest people out there, or at least i have been the unlucky guy to deal with them. I'm really tired of the liars out there, and finally i ran into this website today, and I felt i can ask for help here.

I can't seem to comprehend why is it so hard to find a job in the same country i went to war for three times, two wars.

Do you think you can provide some guidance as to where I can get them started. We are looking in the West TX or NM area.

I can be reached at truckingjt@gmail.com

You may want to talk to the folks on the O/O board, maybe bulk/tankers in this forum, JT3, not that someone here might not be able to tell you something you need to know. From me, it would be extrapolation and inference from the little bit I do know. You don't need that.

nobody cares benn, i talk to you and you talk to the crowd. i like being safe, i dont like the excessive safety that goes beyond the pail of common sense. these locations and or companies, the more corporate the worse, will enact such ludicrous safety protocols that most pepole will not follow, so when something happens, like get bit by a tarantula, then why didnt you lay cones down around it, use yur stop work authority before it bit you.......the reason being is so they can put the blame on you.

and yep, i'm the baddest mthr fckr out here, nobody i know or seen runs like me, i got a motor that runs on plutoneum, everyone who knows me personally knows its true. remember, on yur days off or weeks off or when you quit, i'll be running everyday. good luck!

once more, blocking is for #######......i bet youll quit the field, just wait till winter time comes if you even make it that far lol

Thank you JahB for the advice. I will try other posts. BTW I was saved several months ago, and as a result I look at life in a total different manner now. God Bless.

Hi there... do you think the following companies would hire a newbie like me? I just got my Class A CDL with tanker, Hazmat, Doubles/Triple endorsements. I'm eager to learn... but I'm always hearing they want two years experience... which is probably for insurance reasons. I just want to haul crude oil... what can I do?
