I just found this thread, I've been in Victoria since late last year. The story I heard is that when the account was just getting started, when none of the local gas stations knew we were around, one of our guys stopped at the Stripes gas station on 59 to get a soda, and as he was walking out a couple cars' worth of cops accosted him. Apparently someone actually did call the cops to report an escaped convict walking around!

I don't doubt it, I was so tired of those old suits. I was standing in front of the HEB waiting for my wife to come out. A little girl with her sister and dad were entering the store, she looked at me and then her dad and said, "Daddy, is that a prisoner!"

Also one night I was down in Port Lavaca and needed some cash. I had parked the truck a lot over and ran to the ATM. As I ran up there was a guy getting his cash out. He gave me a look like, "Come on over by me and I will cap you."

I heard one driver put his driver number on the back of his old Nomex as a joke. Also use to clip my H2S monitor right on my chest and run errands. It looked like a tracking device.

Then there were the constant jokes by other truckers. I just laughed with them because I knew how ridiculous I looked. :biggrin_25517:

I bet when you stand in front of your orange tractor all people see is a floating head in a hard hat!

    what is YOB?.....
B.G. no head, only Hard-Hat & Face Shield ( or NIOSH-approved particulate filtering facepiece respirators) then maybe the nose if one is wearing safety-glasses instead .....
R.D. - funny, I have been in enough situations that I have seen a few things like that though not as good as what you are citing, "Public Safety" for such operational areas for me has one's primary involvement not to arise concerns on the part of routine citizens and local population due to safety-suits looking twilight-zone & I have had one situation where "citizen" expressed concern to municipal officer because of stumbling at the pump (retail) due to exhaustion and heating ~ this is actually a very valid concern in areas booming like this

Hey pokerperv, I was talking to you a little bit back about a local school by us here in Michigan. I'm glad to see you've made the choice to try to make your way down to Texas. That's the route I've decided to go as well. Good luck and be safe!

What's worse is when I'm going down the road and the cops can't tell I'm wearing my seatbelt because some "genius" thought it would be cool to put Omaha Orange seatbelts in our trucks.

On the flipside, I can use my suit to wipe the Cheeto's dust off my hands and no one will ever know! :biggrin_25520:
