I hear ya wingnut my wife and I are discussing every option and angle before i leap. I am trying to get us in a better situation that we are in. If I can't make more than at least 500 a week after training then it wouldn't be worth it. Otherwise i am a stay at home dad. My wife makes more than I do.
PS. live just down the road from club 37. lol
Good ole baldwin. I hate this place.

HEY Playmaker, how are things going? I have a degree in Aviation Maintenance. I see that you were a pilot. The airline industry is not what it was for sure. How is ffe treating you? I am very interested and would like to hear what you have to say since you have been here a little while and have been thru it. Thank you for your opinion.

Got another question. Can you opt out of the insurance at FFE? My wife covers me and we don't want to have to double up and pay for insurance with the same bcbs carrier for something i dont need.

Hey all how is the road treating ya'll? I hope good. I have a couple more questions. I really do appreciate all the help you have given me. I have a Chauffeurs license, and a DOT medical card already. will I have to retake the medical or not? Also is it better to go ahead and get the CDL permit here at home before i leave for ffe or not? I just want to give myself the best start possible. Especially if that gives me more time at the range?

Your license will be surrendered at DPS when you take your permit tests (provided you pass). You will also take another physical when you get here. As far as getting a permit before hand, that would be a question for your recruiter. I know that it won't get you any more range time, because the class does things as a group. Those that come down here with a class A already don't arrive until Thursday, and start on the range at the same time as everyone else.
If you or anyone else wants to follow along with my adventures, feel free to send me a friend request on FB, at facebook.com/wingnut1.

Anyone on here driving tanks for FFE on the fields in Midland? Are you getting as many hours as you would like? Does FFE provide any temporary housing or do they put you in sleeper cabs or anything of that sort?

I saw a guy mention earlier in the thread that 5 people that graduated in his class headed to Midland, so they must be getting new drivers down there.

    @ wing nut
Getting your permit prior to going to the academy would be a highly recommendable situation to put yourself in. You would get to bypass the ######## with going through and taking the written test, as well as dealing with the stress of sitting in the class room, watching the tension mount as people are sent home, in droves, on a daily basis over various stupid little things.
Buckeyes class had a very skilled driver in it, that had made the mistake of letting his licence go, he had to retake the permit and was not prepared for it, he did fail out and was assent home. Tread carefully there.

    @sparty
I was recently informed that all tanker drivers going to midlands, are coming from midlands. That is to say they already live there and have proof of residence.

@buckeyeIt was great to see you man, the chances of running into another FFE driver is slim, let alone someone I knew at the academy. Lol. It was also good to see someone other than my truck wife (trainer.) Lol

    Everett Thanks this.

Thanks. Someone else told me that was the case a little while back, but I wasn't sure if it still was since the situation in Midland seems to be pretty volatile and changes from week to week.

I might still go with FFE and do my year OTR to get that coveted experience and then put myself on an oilfield or a local linehaul.

How much exactly is FFE's health coverage per week for a single? Can you decline health and just get dental?

What is FFE's firearm policy for CCL holders?
