generalizations are really bad ! we all know all cops aren't thieves and unfortunately like truck drivers the few spoil it for the many. I have had them on both sides, but I also believe that your attitude has a lot to do with their attitude !

Wow, you guys are making me hate myself more than I already did:biggrin_25511:. 7 months ago I stopped driving and got a job as a bus inspector for the state. I'll say this: alot of the gripes I've always had with the DOT, and most of yours, are well warranted. Some of the guys I work with have had NO mechanical experience before starting here, or life experience for that matter. The other thing is that there is plenty of room for interpretation in the computer system. What i mean is that if you don't see the violation listed, you can just click miscelaneous and type whatever you want. This isn't DOT, mind you, just the state's system. But I'm almost positive the FMCSA system is similar in that respect. I for one will not report a defect if I can't back myself up with the book. I've had operators ask me to read them the code that pertains to their defects, and I did not want to come back to them empty handed. And yes, we are under pressure to find defects and justify our existence. I'll be back on your side soon....

Mike thanks for posting that, but please be careful employers are checking these sights all of the time. I didn't get a job because of a statement I made on a certain site. they also told me that they fire people for making comments. and thanks for keeping your honor and not citing if its not in the book. there's enough violations out there without making them up !

Not ALL Pukes are thieves, some are just horrible humans who love to ruin peoples careers by accusing them (not issuing a citation, just an accusation so you cant defend yourself) of breaking a non-existent law.

Scalemaster, you wouldn't ever write a driver with a bad attitude a warning just so it would show up on his CSA but he would never have a chance to defend himself, would you?

When I started this career I determined that I would never issue citations or violations based on a driver's attitude. So far, over 20 years, I have kept that promise. Not that many drivers have not tried their hardest to get me to change my mind.

Given the same vehicle with the same violations, if I issued more tickets to a driver with a bad attitude than to a driver with a good attitude, the difference would be the attitude. That just is not fair. I have looked and looked, I can not find the violation "Operating a CMV with a $#!%%@ attitude" in either the Federal or State regs. As soon as I can find it, I may issue tickets for it.
