I have fourteen and a half years behind the wheel and 2years flat bedding, my question is what could I expect if I went to work forTMC? I have always been impressed with their equipment and see their trucks alot where I pick up and deliver. I am in a situation that is forcing me to makea change and would like to give TMC a try... So any feedback (good, bad orugly) would be appreciated!

Well, I don't know much about TMC, but I have been with Melton for over a year and have had no problems...I mention it because a lot of drivers came from TMC. I'll be watching this thread because I am interested too. Their trucks are pretty. That's all I got.

Pretty trucks don't mean much if your broke down all the time. Plus it's a lot of BS for 25-29% and a 62 mph ride.
That's my experience. All the diehards will jump all up and down and swear I'm wrong and lazy. That's ok I was there. And when your broke down on the side of the interstate and the genius on the other end is more concerned that you get your truck washed before you deliver than getting you help you'll understand.
If you've got the experience I'd keep looking. -
when your behind the wheel a big shiny hood doesn't mean much and means even less when your along side the road
and yes i have owned a 379 curious why i no longer do -
I hear all of you, and agree it's not about the long shinyhood. I was referring to their equipment in general. I am also looking at CDJand a couple of home town companies. I currently drive a 06 freightlinerColumbia and that suits me fine. Maybe I wasn't clear about what I meant abouttheir equipment. But please keep the comments coming; I would love to hear fromsome current drivers...

I was replying in general. Not sure what you want to hear?

im seeing the doing alot of RGN freight as well as FAK, i did see 4 of them sitting empty in Amarillo on thrusday morning.
have you thought about Maverick? -
Just trying to get some feed back on TMC and maybe any suggestions on any reliable companies out there. Hey, thanks for your input I am open to what ever. Like I once heard; a horse has enough sense to eat the hay and spit out the sticks. So I will take what ever I can get and be thankful for input... I haven't had to look for a job in a long time so it is what is you know.

I worked for TMC from May 19th, 1994 until Feb 8th, 2011. Yep, almost 17 years. In some ways I miss them. They give you plenty of securement equipment. I liked the coil racks they use. I liked having 4 different types of edge protector for different types of things. I found the tarps pretty user friendly. I liked having and keeping a clean truck. I didn't like going to shippers and being treated like I didn't know anything just because so many TMC newbies with an attitude had been there before me. Didn't like staying out up to five weeks before I'd get home for maybe 24-36 hours (but I live in South Dakota, so you may not have that problem). Didn't like getting as many as ten or more "nasty-grams" a day on the qualcomm telling me all the stupid stuff "you drivers are doing". For many years I was really happy there. But then they started trying to grow too big too fast. Led to many problems that are so common in this industry with big companies. I really think I'd keep looking if I where you.
Doesitwithsockson and nctrucker1977 Thank this.
